Queen's University Men's Rugby team The Queen's University Men's Rugby team has an illustrious, and storied career dating back to the 1960's.
This team has dominated the Ontario University Rugby scene since its beginnings, and has went on to become champions 22 times! Over the years, this team has produced outstanding rugby players and fine young lads. Coming out of this program, many players have went on to represent our country in the sport. Former Gaels flyer Sean Duke and #8 Matt Mullins are currently with Canada's National 7s team.
Duke played at Queen's in 2006 and 2007 before moving on to the Canada 7s and 15s programs. Duke is Canada's all-time leader in tries scored for 7s. Mullins played for Queen's in the undefeated 2013 Championship season then left to represent Canada U20 and Canada 7s. Mullins and Duke won 2015 Pan Am gold in Toronto. Current Rugby Canada standout and Queen's Jenkins Award winner Liam Underwood played fly-half for Queen's from 2009-13 and recently played fullback for Canada at the 2015 Rugby World Cup. Earlier this year reigning OUA MVP Lucas Rumball, and alumnus Dan Moor were named starters in the opening match of the inaugural Americas Rugby Championship. Along side these lads, Gaels alumnus Alistair Clark was named to the replacements bench. The success of this program has been able to give many Queen's rugby players a chance to extend their Rugby careers at the professional level.
