Finally got a chance to post about our most recent promotions, the gang did very well! Keep up the good work!

I don’t think I have spoken of my rank in any of my posts in the past, I’m more interested in sharing the accomplishments of my own students. However, with that being said, today is my 43rd anniversary of training and I have recently been promoted to Godan (5th degree). I wanted to take this opportunity to thank Sensei Cam Steuart for accepting me into the organization over 35 years ago and allowing my training to truly flourish! Also to my Sensei and friend Dean Gulka who pushed me to my limits in class and on the tournament floor, you made me become better than I thought I could be. There are so many amazing friends and colleagues in our organization that have also contributed to my success, I thank you all for the hard lessons and for the fun that has come around. I hope for another 43 years!

Very happy to present Aidin with ‘Student of the Year’! He is an exemplary student with a strong work ethic. I wish him success in all his future endeavours.

We had our national seminars in Lloydminster over the May long weekend! Many of our members from across the country participated. Sensei Demura would have been pleased, his spirit is still strong among his Canadian students. Excellent training was done and new skills were added for all. Nothing like getting another kata on the list! Keep them coming Sensei Steuart!

Congratulations to Gabriel and Sara for student(s) of the year! You are both very deserving and are a pleasure to have in class! Also, a big congratulations to Lysa for making Shodan, onward and upward!

No words can convey the feeling of the loss that we, the students of Sensei Demura, have. My condolences to his family, may he rest in peace.

This is pretty cool to see. You can see the beginnings of some of his most famous routines. Looks like a few well known Sensei working with Demura Sensei as well.

I know I do this every year on this date, but this is a big one, 40 years of training! It’s hard to believe it as it feels like yesterday that I trudged down the steps of the old Ritz Hotel and into the karate school. I thank all of my teachers over the years, Dwight Scheer, Cam Steuart, Dean Gulka, Claude Berthiaume, of course Demura Sensei, and many many more! I hope for at least 40 more! Keep training everyone!

First class back after our most recent and hopefully last lockdown! I was very happy to give my students their certificates for the recent belt promotions. There are a few that were not here this evening but we got the majority in the photo. I’m very proud of you all, congratulations!

Classes begin on Wednesday, September 8th! Kids 5-5:40, Adults 5:45-6:30, Advanced 6:30-7:00. We are still at the Seniors Centre, 56 Francis Street.
