Kingston Lawn Bowling Club has had another successful Fun Day. We had a game of pairs where leads were switched to skip positions, and skips were switched to lead positions. Then we enjoyed a barbecue lunch with burgers from our sponsor Pig & Olive, a local butcher shop.

We'd like to thank our sponsor Pig & Olive for the yummy burgers.

Congratulations to KLBC's James Baggs and Scott Bell for a great performance at the Provincial Novice Men's "Aussie Pairs" championship in Bobcaygeon this weekend. They managed to advance to the knockout stage despite being in a very tough group, and then lost a real heartbreaker (12-11) in the quarter-final. They are shown here in Bobcaygeon with their pennant for winning District 15.

On Sunday afternoon, we celebrated Charlie Cooney's 40 years of membership at KLBC! After the jitney, Fran Cooney provided lots of sweets for us to enjoy. Thanks, Charlie, for your ongoing contributions to the club!

More competition results for KLBC players... KLBC's Pierre Vanderhout teamed up with Tracey Warren (Lindsay) and Alan Hunter (Bobcaygeon) to win the Whitby Mixed Triples tournament on August 8. And KLBC's Scott Bell and Carol-Anne Bell were unopposed in the District 15 Mixed Pairs Playdowns this weekend. Big congratulations to KLBC's Pierre Vanderhout and his team of bowlers from Cobourg, Meaford, Leaside, and Preston, for being the joint winners of the 131st Western Ontario Lawn Bowling Association (WOBA) 3-day tournament in Kitchener. KLBC players continue to perform well on the provincial stage. This past weekend, Pierre Vanderhout and Curtis Wartman played in the 26-team Provincial Men's Pairs Championship in Windsor. They went undefeated on Day One, winning their group. However, they lost a heartbreaking game in the knockout round (13-11, in 16 ends), and did not make the podium. And, a few weeks back, James Baggs played in the 17-team Provincial Senior Men's Triples Championship in Hanover (with Bill McCollam and Peter Stuart-Sheppard of Cobourg - no picture available). On Day One, they finished 2nd in their group of 5, but lost in the knockout round to the eventual champions. Well done, everyone!
