Hydra will have Open House practices the rest of May to welcome new players. The last few weeks we have had several people ask to try out so we are opening the May practice for that.
We will have a guest coach from the Queen’s Varsity Women’s team during that time.
Hydra Water Polo
Hydra is an age group water polo club serving Kingston and the lakeshore in eastern Ontario.
Winter session has begun. New players are welcome at any time and we have several novices starting this week.

As we break for the holidays it’s my pleasure to announce the first addition to our age group coaching staff for 2023. Welcome Sarah Chapman of the Queen’s Varsity Women’s team.
Sarah has a competitive background in speed swimming from Waterloo, swimming and coaching, and transitioned to water polo at university. An intuitive and perceptive teacher you will all be happy to benefit from Sarah’s involvement on the deck each week.
Congrats to Hydra athlete Julia Kolosov who has been offered admission to Queen’s and will join the varsity water polo program as a top recruit in the fall.
It’s finally time, 2022 practice starts Thursday September 29 at Artillery Park. If you need details and didn’t get them, fire off a message.
Practice is on this week, Thursday 28th at Artillery Park. There was some mixed messaging from the pool last week but all is good.
Yes, there is a practice on St Patrick’s Day during spring break. Kids last week who said they were in town were excited for that activity so we will be there!
Hydra Returns!
We are back in the pool this week, Thursday February 3, 2022. Hopefully the first in a continual stream of weekly practice until near the end of the school year. 6:00 Artillery Park.
Update, based on the announcement today from Queen’s Park. No practice or pool access until at least January 26, 2022. We will return to “normal” as soon as possible so kids don’t forget what that should look like. But, public safety and support of hospitals is priority 1.

Frontenac News - Rain doesn’t stop disc golfers at Hunter’s Creek on Saturday Despite covid restrictions postponing an earlier attempt and various bouts of rain Saturday, the Hunter’s Creek Fall Fling Disc Golf began what the course owners hope will be the harbinger of things to come. “We will have an inaugural tournament, probably in the spring,” said Cynthia Kennedy, ...
Exciting news, Hydra is back with fall programs!
We have just found out we have access to limited pool time this fall. Program options and details will be on our website (and directly to our mail list) as soon as we have ironed out restrictions etc.
Fall update; for families looking at new activities for their children this fall we can confirm Kingston pools are not accommodating rental groups. There are no pools in Kingston for us to run programs, regardless of social distance and precautions.
We hope this changes in the new year and we will most certainly operate programs when pools become available. In the mean time please stay safe but stay active.
