Looking for a night out with family and friends!

The Town of Blackfalds is excited to announce that we will be joining five other Alberta communities in hosting pre-tournament games ahead of the IIHF World Junior Championship 2027!

Games in Blackfalds will be held at the Eagle Builders Centre via the following schedule:

“It is an incredible privilege to host some of the world’s best young athletes right here in our community. On behalf of Council, I am excited not only to share our hometown pride, but also to showcase our state-of-the-art facilities, outstanding amenities, local businesses, and the dedicated team working tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure this event is a success,” said Laura Svab, Mayor of Blackfalds. “It is an honour to be one of the six host communities, and I look forward to seeing residents and visitors alike come together to celebrate the games.”

Fans looking to watch the top under-20 players from 10 countries ahead of the World Juniors can purchase tickets now for the pre-tournament games in Camrose, Cold Lake, Lloydminster, Red Deer, and Edmonton at HockeyCanada.ca/Tickets.

Apply for the opportunity to host a World Girls’ Ice Hockey Weekend (WGIHW) event and receive funding through the Hockey Canada Foundation! 💙

This is a great opportunity to create more opportunities for girls to get on the ice, try hockey, and celebrate the women’s game in your community.

WGIHW PROCESS: Aligning with other Hockey Canada programs such as First Shift and Pathway to Hockey, the WGIHW program will continue the same process for application, registration, and event management for the 26-27 season.

All WGIHW events must go through the Hockey Canada Registry (HCR) to ensure a streamlined process. Please visit the following link to apply and for detailed step-by-step HCR instructions: https://albertahockey.ca/4xdcG9t

Deadline to apply is September 25, 2026.
