Sign up for a Paddle Canada Level 2 class led by Lovesick Kayaking's lead instructor Alex Grant!

Here we expand on what we learned in Level 1 and teach you to do rescues in rough water, bow rescues, ded reckoning, intro to rolling, and much more!

The class is held at Presqu'ile Provincial Park on Lake Ontario and Stoney Lake/Burleigh Falls in the Kawarthas.

Burleigh Falls gives us a unique opportunity to teach students how to kayak in current in a breathtakingly beautiful location. Our navigation tour is held at the complex Stoney Lake, while Presqu'ile Park gives us bigger waves, surf beaches, and impressive wildlife.

Absolutely beautiful day taking Diane's wedding party out to see Burleigh Falls yesterday. Many of the ladies had never paddled before and they took to it like born naturals. The turtles were out like I've never seen before and the bride to be got some great pictures with them. A really memorable day.

Just returned from an amazing week training for my Level 2 instructor certification. Rick and Alex from near Sudbury were the most supportive, educational, insightful, generous and entertaining mentors I've met in my paddling career. Could not recommend them highly enough if you are up in the north passage and surrounding areas.

Can't wait to use my new skills to lead my 1st Level 2 class September 12-15 at Presqu'ile Park and Lovesick/Stoney Lake. Contact me to join in and learn how to safely paddle and play in bigger water.

We are all between swims! The water teaches us lessons. This one was fun. 😁

Circumnavigated Stoney Lake yesterday as a pre-season scouting and training exercise. 49.5km (there's a map of my route in the last slide). Was really cool. Saw turtles, osprey, baby vultures, loons. A beautiful day.

Trent-Severn Waterway 4-day kayak tour.

Peterborough - Lakefield - Burleigh Falls - Lovesick Lake - Buckhorn

July 2-5

Spend four unforgettable days exploring the beautiful and historic Trent-Severn Waterway.

Ride up the Peterborough Lift-Lock, the world's highest hydraulic boat lift.
Paddle the historic serene Otonabee "river that beats like a heart", featuring lush shoreline and classic cottage country scenery.
Wander the Juniper Island store for some unique souvenirs and step inside St. Peter's on-the-Rock, a beautiful wood-built church, perched on its own island, tucked between Devil's Elbow and Hells Gate.
Feel the thunderous roar of the majestic Burleigh Falls, and cool off with a refreshing post-picnic swim in Stony Lake.
Pull your kayak across a historic wooden canoe ladder on Wolf Island into Lower Buckhorn Lake, with beaver dams and osprey nests.

Your lead guide, Alex Grant, is Paddle Canada trained and a certified Wilderness First Responder, bringing both experience and confidence to the trip. We provide high quality touring kayaks and all required safety gear. The tour begins with a thorough safety briefing and easygoing instruction to ensure a fun and enjoyable vacation.

This is a self-catered adventure, but you're never on your own. Your guides are happy to help with food planning, camp cooking tips, and basic campcraft along the way. It's a relaxed way to experience one of Ontario's most beautiful hidden jewel kayak destinations, with unhurried days on the water, good company, and memories that linger long after the last paddle stroke.

Start mornings on glassy water, live by the rhythm of your paddle, and spot wildlife when you least expect it. Beavers glide past your bow, turtles sun themselves on rocks, and overhead you might spot great blue herons, osprey, or turkey vultures riding the thermals. You'll be travelling routes that have carried people for centuries, following ancient Indigenous hunting and trading corridors and the same waterways Samuel de Champlain explored in the 1600s.
