A club for non-powered water sports 20 minutes north of Peterborough. Plenty of dockage and a launching ramp makes boat handling a breeze.

Geared to dinghy sailing, our boat storage and launching facilities enable us to store and "dry-sail" approximately 50 centreboard craft of up to 16 feet in length. There are also storage facilities for sailboards and limited space for trailer-launched boats of slightly larger size.

Peterborough Sailing Club once again hosted the Wayfarer Heist regatta, decorating Clear Lake with colourful boat hulls and spinnakers.  This year there were 11 boats representing 7 different sailing clubs, including two boats from the USA.  We had 4 PSC boats participate this year, finishing 7th, 8th, 10th and 11th. The group sailed 5 triangular races on Saturday in increasing but consistently southerly winds.  There was a high level competition as each mark rounding was contested, sometimes by 4 or even 5 boats rounding at the same time. A number of placings were decided by just a few feet.

The participants elected to sail an extra race on this first day as the forecast for Sunday was less promising. This decision turned out to be prophetic as Sunday proved a difficult day.  The course was set but had to be realigned as the wind shifted west.  The sequence for the first race completed but a general recall meant that the start had to be abandoned. As the boats returned to the start line, the wind shifted again, and by then storm clouds threatened.  The boats were sent ashore and racing for the day was abandoned.  We packed up in the rain and were only able to dry out in time for the awards ceremony.

Many thanks to Robin and her crew for a great meal Saturday evening and all the food through the rest of the weekend.  Thanks to Dave and Anne Pugh for conducting the racing and Sean and Murphy for manning the mark boat. Our visitors once again complemented PSC on their hospitality and for providing a great sailing venue. Several of our visitors were looking for advice on how to host such a great event.
