I have been away from the game for a while now and hoped somebody else would take the page over in my absence. Having said that, Congratulations to Louise Whitney, Kapur Garr and Vince ? from Sunrise Carpet Bowling who competed in the 2017 BC +55 Games this year and won GOLD for Zone 3. Seniors' Carpet Bowling (55+) Carpet Bowling or Indoor Biased Bowls is a recreational sport with similarities to curling, bocce and lawn bowling.
It is a very good social activity with a mild exercise component. It is played on a carpet, 30 feet in length X 6 feet wide. there are 2 teams of 4, 3 or 2 players each, 4 being most common. The first lead player bowls a small white ball or jack down the carpet. it will be placed on the centre line at whatever distance it was bowled. Glen Pine Pavilion held their ANNUAL CARPET BOWLING TOURNAMENT on 11 March 2014. The weather was fine and the bright sunshine and many windows made for a great atmosphere for all. Cedar Grove won the trophy losing only 1 game all day. In order of finish, the other clubs participating were Kennedy, Guildford, Cameron, Glen Pine,Wilson, Dogwood and Sunrise. Guildford's team was made up of Peter Zubak (skip), Jeannie Peltz, Cathy Moenke, and Doug Price.
