NOTICE TO THUNDERBIRD FAST DRAW CLUB MEMBERS/ASSOCIATES;
Howdy Folks; Time for another report here on the Thunderbird FD Club's latest events, before I get too far behind again. Well this one will focus on our Cancer Fund show on July 11 where we did our Fast Draw demo etc.,, at the old-west style Jamestown movie lot. {Where 'Hangs the Heart' is filmed. Some of us set up our site. {Which was changed from the day before!} and we
then featured our stuff which included our Reaction Time tests {for the crowd to enjoy trying} Shane Johnson's 'Roping School' setup and of course one of our FD Demos. This was the second year we've worked this event which is put on by the Ruscheinski Brothers Chris & Jamie {aka 'The Property Twins'} who do-and have done -a GREAT job with this event over the years, playing host to over 2000 visitors each year while bringing in thousands of dollars to help stave us all prevent or defeat the various-and ugly-'diseases! THANKS here to ALL whom took part in this very worthwhile event which is now known a 'Gone Country' complete with western 'acts' and all kinds of music. There was food-aplenty-and all kinds of...well...'colourful' drinks, therefore THERE'S NO CHILDREN allowed! {Never mind how some adults were 'dressed'-or should I say 'not fully dressed'?} And, just like in the many years before this event was another good one for the crowds that attend-and have attended-these events-wish I could say more.
Unfortunately for our own group of gunslingers they've changed the date of their next 'Gone Country' event {next year} to the SAME DATE as our WFDA Sanctioned World FD Championships in July {next year.} . And our group just ain't large enough for us to physically be in two places at once. Bytheway, our contest is going into it's 19th consecutive {but not as a World's} year!
Well, hopefully 'Gone Country' will see fit to change again the following year and we can again take part in this wonderful and most worthwhile event! Meanwhile I'd like to THANK each and everyone whom helped us support this event,, and a most special THANK YOU to the managers of this event, the Ruscheinski brothers,, Chris & Jamie aka 'The Property Twins!!
Well we were pretty tired after the event especially since the following day was 'clean up' day-and suddenly we had to get ready and 're-group' to handle our World's Fast Draw contest the weekend following this one! {AND 2 weeks after ours is over several of us had to 'light out' for Oregon's Championships in Forest Grove! Upcoming reports will also be on our GOM pf July,, and a FD Publicity Show which was done at the Golf Course that Nicole Franks 'hangs around ' at! There will be coverage of those events later,, but now we're back to doing our own Gun Of The Month competitions and this coming Friday night we shoot 10 shots 'Step Back/Forward Wax' at the large round target. There are the usual TWO competitions, one for Open Class shooters and one for 'Thumbers only!. {Take your pick or do both!} Meanwhile, tonight there
will be an important club Director's mtg. some of which should include coverage & updating'of what's going on with this year's Family Day project—hopefully, our FD Directors can make it!
See y'all 'back at the ranch, meanwhile, please, take care out there!

NOTICE TO THUNDERBIRD FAST DRAW CLUB MEMBERS/ASSOCIATES;
Howdy Folks; Well, let's try to get back on track to some degree anyway. This report will be mostly about our doing the Annual Historical Arms Collector's Show in March of this year. {Yes, I've spent a little too much time in the hospitals this year, but now have 5 stints & a Pacemaker to help me get by. {Plus now a couple of bandages from a recent fall.} Anyway, I'd like to Thank Shane Johnson for doing a report {on the Sturgis shoot}, and Tony Antao while I ..uh..had some time off...THANKS GUYS!
At March's HACS Show it was great to 'greet & meet' with the REAL 'gunfighters-those guys that are constantly attacking Canada's recent outlandish-and EXPENSIVE-gun laws; Gary Ma**er, Blair Hagen of NFA, Murray Gardner, and of course Gord Bader, one of the show's matriarches! Also good visits from some old members of the club, Stefano Infanti & Steve Madge, along with a 'drop-in' by our grandson, Mattias Robinson & his buddy Clayton Shulz! We introduced many, many folks to our booth
where we had a t,v, with Fast Draw videos, and they lined up to view our FD photos & news items as well, as they came by to visit-and find out what we were about. plus we kept the Reaction timers going for both days as well. We had LR&Gun Club banners posted along w. ours & there were Fast Draw demos {Japanese Style} as we used primers only loads {as blanks} to break balloons from an extremely close range-and that's not so easy! The audiences both days were good, and for myself, it's always fun to 'make fun' of our FD demontrators as they shoot with-and against-each other.
In between all this, the club did several Gun Of The Month trophy presentations {plus it's own year-end awards, which we plane to cover in a later report.}
COMING UP: This Friday night, the FD will be closed as, during this weekend, the rest of the LR&GClub is closed for the upcoming B.C Archery Championships However, the Friday after this one we have another Gun Of The Month contest, where we will be shooting at 4 in. Dia. Balloons in a Doubles {5 strings equalling 10 shots total.} event, with the contestant{s} standing 8 ft. Back & the two targets are 6 ft. apart. {Good practice for our upcoming World Blank Championships!}
The Friday following we will have to set up for a demo-or two-of our FD {regular Blanks} at the Jamestown's 'Gone Country' Cancer Fund. {More on this later..} Unfortunately, we've 'lost' the Annual Brae Jsland Western Week this year as it's being held on the weekend of our contest @ Fair!
And the weekend after Jamestown is our own World Blank FD Championships. {Please see attached brochure>} We will NEED all the shooters we can get-plus if you have anything you can DONATE to this event it will be MUCH appreciated and Paula Murphy can put your name-or your company's name, on a larg bulletin board which is displayed for the audiences at the contest to see, We willalso NEED all the help we can get as we must set up the tents, bacdrop, etc. On the Friday before the contest AND meet with the Celebrity shooters whom have to trained for their 'high noon' event @ Fair the next day!
And THEN we can get on with the results of those events PLUS our Sturgis & local events done by
members of this club! In the meantime, we hope that you enjoy our little 'foray' into our history, and
THANKS for your support!
