We’re sharing a great free session from our friends at YAD: Beyond the Score, a practical conversation about helping kids grow and thrive in sport.

You’ll hear from a sports medicine pediatrician, a registered clinical counsellor, and an SFU growth & motor development lecturer. They’ll cover what really matters for young athletes on and off the field.

In Memory of Private Hayden Lykkemark

It is with great sadness that we acknowledge the passing of former Langley Secondary student Private Hayden Lykkemark, who tragically lost his life on October 17, 2026, during a training accident at CFB Wainwright.
Hayden will be remembered as a valued member of the Langley community. He was a dedicated student, athlete, teammate, and friend who made a positive impact on those around him. Whether on the rugby field, in the classroom, or among his peers, Hayden was known for his character, determination, and willingness to support others.

Following graduation, Hayden chose to serve his country through the Canadian Armed Forces. Those who trained and served alongside him remember a young man who exemplified military values, lifted the spirits of those around him, and earned the respect of both his fellow soldiers and leaders. His commitment to service reflected the same qualities that many of us saw during his time at our school.

Our thoughts are with Hayden’s family, friends, military brothers, and sisters, and all those affected by this tragedy. As the BC Premier stated, “In this moment of profound heartbreak, as British Columbians and Canadians, let’s wrap our arms around their families, supporting them and joining in the mourning of this horrible tragedy.”

With the support and permission of Hayden’s family, a GoFundMe has been established by his close friend and T-Bird Alum, Kane Lewis, to help ease the financial burden facing the family during this difficult time. We encourage members of our community to consider supporting the fundraiser or sharing it with others.
Hayden’s legacy of service, friendship, and compassion will not be forgotten. We extend our deepest condolences to all who knew and loved him.
