Maybe you've looked at food as "good" and "bad". Maybe it seriously messed up my mindset around food, and had led to a lot of food guilt.

But here's the thing: we need to STOP GIVING FOOD VALUE! 🙃

Food is fuel. Simple as that.

Some foods provide higher quality, more nourishing fuel than others.

Some foods give us sustainable energy, and some just make us feel good because they are super yummy.

For my clients, I don't focus on labeling foods as "good" or "bad". Instead, we view them as foods we should:
✅️eat more
✅️eat sometimes
✅️eat less

NO FOODS ARE OFF LIMITS.

Past habits I thought were *healthy* but we're actually not:

Years ago, before I discovered
🌿sustainable nutrition🌿, I followed all the diet rules that magazines and the internet told me to.

And even thought I tried to follow all those rules, guess what? I felt like total garbage because I wasn't fuelling my body properly.

This post is to tell you, right here and now, to AVOID these habits! ❌️

Here are some of those rules and habits:

➡️ getting anxious when I ate over 1200 calories (or if I "overate" period)

➡️ eliminating healthy fats because they had too many calories (I even tried to convince myself I didn't like peanut butter because of how many calories it has 💀)

➡️ demonizing bread an using alternatives that I thought were "healthier" (like rice cakes or slices of sweet potato)

➡️ taking supplements to help me 💩 if I thought I ate too much (sorry TMI lol)

➡️ designating labels to foods such as good or bad

I've learned from my mistakes so that my clients don't have to make these mistakes too!!

🌿Healthy lifestyle tips that aren't just "workouts and nutrition"

✅️SLEEP
Have you every noticed that when you don't get enough sleep, it can often lead to less mindful decisions the next day? When you aren't well rested, it can be difficult to get in a workout, cook dinner, or move enough during the day. Getting enough good quality sleep is important for your overall health, as well as reaching your fitness and fat loss goals. Aim for 7-9 hours per night!

✅️HYDRATE
Consuming enough water is important for so many reasons, which include regulating blood pressure, keeping your joints lubricated, and helping the body deliver nutrients to the cells of your body. It is better to be sipping water all day, rather than chugging a whole bunch at once. I recommend carrying around a water bottle to make drinking enough water easier!

✅️MOVE
Moving throughout the day, not just during your workout, is important for your overall health. Our bodies are literally designed to move. Not to mention it increases your daily NEAT (non-exercise activity thermogenesis), which contributes to fat loss. Aim to get up and move around every hour or two. Using a fitness tracker can be a helpful reminder to stay active throughout the day.

✅️FRESH AIR
Get your butt outside! Fresh air and sunshine is wonderful for boosting your mood. Find outdoor activities that you enjoy, like hiking, biking, or rollerblading, and do them at least once per week! It is even better when you bring a buddy along!
