The objectives of this non-profit organization are to promote the sport of cycling in Southern Alberta and to provide involvement for members in all aspects and levels of bicycle road racing, touring (recreation and transportation), mountain biking, and triathlon. The Lethbridge Headwinds Cycling Club is affiliated with the Alberta Bicycle Association (A.B.A.) , the Canadian Cycling Association (C.C.A) and the Alberta Triathlon Association (A.T.A.).

Headwinds Time Trial Thursday June 18th. Thursday’s training ride will be a time trial competition. Meet at the tourist info parking lot 6:00 same as usual. We will ride to the intersection of McNally Road and Highway 4. There is a choice of two lengths. 22 or 42km. See the map. Join us for a fun time and a chance to see if you are as fast as you imagine you are.
If it is windy we will have a group ride instead

Please join us on Sunday, June 14th to honor our friend and longtime member of Headwinds in the 7th Annual Ride the Highwood with Murray. Murray loved riding the Highwood Pass for its continuous challenging climb and the pure beauty of the Canadian Rockies. This ride is a 76 km out and back ride with 985 meters of elevation gain. This ride offers the opportunity to possibly experience every type of weather from pure Southern Alberta sunshine to blizzard like conditions and everything in between all in the same ride.
Plan:
- Meet at the west side Safeway parking lot at 8:00 am to arrange any car-pooling required.
- Self-supported ride open to all club members. The road will be closed to traffic and will be the last weekend before it opens for cars.
- A Kananaskis Conservation Pass is required and is $15/car. https://conservationpass.alberta.ca/kcp
- The ride will take about 4 hours so be prepared with food and water as needed.
- We will meet back at the parking area at Highwood Junction and those wishing to join us for a post ride beverage and to raise a glass for Murray in Longview, you are more than welcome to join.
