Well… I added another kayak to the X2O Outdoors fleet 😎
After spending some time in the Old Town Topwater 106, I decided to finally make the jump into a pedal drive setup. The Old Town 120 Salty PDL.
This new rig is going to open up a ton of opportunities for longer runs, covering water faster, hands-free fishing, and hopefully some pretty awesome new content for the channel.
The crazy part? A few years ago I had a fully rigged boat… then life changed. Selling it was tough. But fishing has a way of keeping you moving forward, even if the path looks different than you planned.
Honestly, I’m just thankful to still be out there chasing fish and making memories any way I can.
Can’t wait to get this thing rigged up and on the water 🎣🔥
Big things coming for X2O Outdoors.

Some days everything lines up perfectly for smallmouth bass fishing… and this was one of them. When heavy north winds caused a massive wind setup between the lakes, the bridge became the ultimate pinch point. This forced a hard current to flow right against the wind, creating what I call The Feeding Trap—a rare setup where bait and predatory fish stack up perfectly.
These conditions don’t happen often, but when they do… the bite turns completely ON. Honestly, the fish were so fired up I think they would have eaten a bare hook.

Ice Fishing had been tough… multiple trips with nothing to show for it. So we switched things up and hit a shallow, weedy bay targeting pike.
That’s when everything changed.
I tied on a bait I usually only use in the summer — and the reaction from the pike was instant. Aggressive hits, decent fish, and finally breaking the slump.
But here’s the question…
Was it the bait itself, or the way I had it rigged that made the difference?

We thought we were snagged on the bottom…
No head shakes. No movement. Just dead weight.
Then it started to move.
What followed was a 2 mile chase and a 30 minute battle with a GIANT sturgeon on a walleye setup. Absolute chaos and a fish my buddy will never forget.
Have you ever thought you were snagged… and it turned into something crazy? Let me know below 👇

The near perfect conditions kept me from packing in the ice season and taking one last crack at a tank.
It paid off!

Hit the ice for maybe one last time here in Southern Ontario. Warm temperatures and rain in the next week could mess things up so I was happy to get into some pike fishing with my bud Beauty day on the ice!

Behind all the fish pictures there are days I do struggle as an angler. Ice fishing has definitely had my number over the years. I've been blessed to catch some nice fish but also been skunked in the following days. Never give up friends. Memories are not made sitting on a couch. Tight lines!
