On Friday December 2, 2022 from 6:00 - 8:00 pm, Roaring Tiger Family Martial Arts would like to welcome Grand Master Doreen DiRienzo from Kenpo International coming all the way from her own Revere Karate Academy in Revere, Massachusetts, United States. In August 2021, Grand Master DiRienzo was inducted into the American Martial Arts Alliance Foundation’s Legends Section of the Changing Lives Series. Having started her career in Kenpo Karate at the age of 16, Grand Master DiRienzo has spent nearly 50 years in the martial arts world, teaching thousands of students throughout the world. Her belief is that "Karate is the right pathway for children to develop confidence, to be active in physical fitness, and, be able to defend oneself when the situation calls for it and other measures have been exhausted." This special training session is only open to all Roaring Tiger Family Martial Arts teens, adults and all Black Belt ranks as well as private invitation only.

MORE SOKKA BLACK BELT GRADING HIGHLIGHTS!!

Here are some more action shots of the SOKKA Black Belt Candidates during their Grading Ceremony held on Saturday October 15, 2022 at Roaring Tiger Family Martial Arts dojo. Student Candidates from Roaring Tiger Family Martial Arts and Wallaceburg Martial Arts dojos were flying across the air as they performed their katas, weapons, mass attacks and self-defense techniques. It was also a pleasure to see Sensei Alison Empey receive her honourary promotion to Second Degree Black Belt after years of battling post concussion syndrome. Thank you's go out to the candidates, their families, Professor Paul Steward, Sensei Claudine Bourdeau, Sensei Andrew Bourdeau and Associate Professor Robin Empey for all of their hard work. Everyone made their dojos proud for such an incredible testing day and display of martial arts prowess. GRRReat work everyone!!

The first annual S.O.K.K.A. Black Belt Grading Day was a huge success on Saturday October 15, 2022. Students from Wallaceburg Martial Arts and Roaring Tiger Family Martial Arts started off bright and early at 8:00 am sharp!! They were tested on their basic fundamentals, forms, sets, weapons, arnis, wrist locks, self defense techniques and sparring skills as they tested before the S.O.K.K.A. grading panel. Sensei Jason Arnold, from Kenpo International was present to observe the proceedings which finished off in the evening with Black Belt presentations and a huge banquet put on by the parents from both clubs. A special thank you to Michael Carter, the photographer from Wallaceburg and Timothy Richards, owner and videographer from Dynamite Wedding Videos for all of their film and video footage, as well as all the parents who assisted in this amazing day. Congratulations and GRRReat Work Black Belt Candidates!!

Please help Kassidy to return to RTFMA training, if you're able.

Click here to support Kassidy's Medical Bills organized by Desiree Anne I seriously hate that I'm writing this, that I'm actually at the point that I need to ask for financial assistance, but I can't afford it on my own. In September of 2016 Kassidy took a basketball to the face while playing with friends in the school yard, and it's set in motion a year of doctors a...

I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate all of RTFMA’s tournament participants and the students who volunteered and supported our students during their performances on Sunday. I would also like to thank the parents and other family members who came out to watch and show their support for our students as they all represented RTFMA with distinction and honour.

This tournament is a testament to the quality of our program and all of the hard work and dedication shown by our students as we competed against schools from Michigan, all of southern Ontario and even the state of New York. Many of these schools compete in tournaments all over the world on a regular basis, including the World Karate Championships, and you should all be proud of your accomplishments as you not only competed successfully but placed in the top 3 in many of your events.

As your Sensei, I am extremely proud of how well you did and I had many people come up to me to congratulate us on our performances, especially on how crisp and clean our forms and weapons were. As an instructor, these compliments meant a lot to me and I want to thank each one of you for your efforts in doing your very best at the tournament.

I would like to request that all students bring their trophies and medals to tomorrow night’s class so that we can get a group photo of all the students, their hardware and those students who attended and supported RTFMA’s participants.
Yours in Kenpo Karate
Sensei Robin
