Thank you for all the love & support shown by our community.
It was a week ago that we simply asked for help, and y'all showed up
DMs, shares, offers to host fundraisers & our day 1s just showing up, as always - they all mean the world to us.❤️🫶🏾

But here's some more truth: 😮‍💨💎🗣
💥 Even though I've asked for help (which is already difficult most times), accepting it also doesn't come so easily for me.
💥 1st of the month feels extra 😬 for too many reasons (I'm sure for many of us, too)
💥 We still value people & time over money
💥 Cash still rules everything around

Now, this is where I'm working on getting more clear with what we're asking from the community.

We keep seeing too much of:
• watered down hip hop labeled as "urban choreography"
• dancers abusing the title of choreographer/teacher even though they have no foundation
• chasing the clout/opportunity to shine before putting in the work first

We're inviting you to our first round of auditions to join 519 ORIGINALS - where you'll learn a combo, perform a solo and get to learn more about the vision of this training team for the Summer '26 & beyond.

Round 1 of 519 TRAINING TEAM AUDITIONS will take place on Sunday, June 7th @ 2-5 PM! 📆
HIP HOP (real hip hop), BREAKING (cypher & battle training too), GROOVES (what else?) and more!

Here's the breakdown:
@ 2-3 PM / Juniors (min age 10+ w exceptions)
@ 330-5 PM / Seniors & Adults (16+)
You will be invited to learn a short combo, showcase your personality & character through movement and share w us what YOU'D like to learn by participating in this program 💎🌱

This training team will meet primarily on Sunday afternoons throughout the summer as well as some week days, with a dedicated focus on -
1. FUNDAMENTALS to various street dance forms
2. FREESTYLE & musicality building through building a strong rhythmic foundation
3. COMBOS & DRILLS to condition our bodies in a safe, group environment

We have some block parties to hit up this summer, pop-up cyphers to host and are always looking for new ways to highlight and celebrate how we do HIP HOP in the Forest City. So we're just grateful for this new chapter and looking forward to planting new seeds w the support of you all 🙏🏽

This journey is still, and will forever be a massive blessing and a privilege to me. It's a life that I chose many years ago, when I discovered what Hip Hop is/was all about. Despite the struggles, I will continue fighting to make this "work" for not only myself but for the next generation 🌱📈

But here's the real challenge. A reality check.
Just about EVERYTHING costs TOO much today 😮‍💨 and it's sometimes scary to think - how long can I do this? 😩

I can't blame it all on the economy but then sometimes I put it all on myself, thinking:
"What more do I need to do?" or
"Why isn't my effort being converted into $$?"
