Cancer treatment can bring many unexpected costs and we recognize that at Blood, Sweat and Spin. That is why we chose to donate 25% of funds raised to the Gene Goodreau Patient Assistance Fund. These funds directly impact patients and their families by helping purchase essential items like wigs, wig stands, health care equipment, transportation costs, hotel stays treatments etc.
Because of your dedication in 2019 to BSS, we donated $13,000 to help these patients! Patients undergoing treatment are now be able to focus more on their health then worry about their finances!
Great job London!

Because of all your hard work at our BSS 2019 event, we were able to contribute $19,022 to Dr. Eva Turley’s Catalyst grant that helped fund Transitional Myeloma Cancer Research.
Dr. Eva Turley applied for a catalyst grant to fund a project focusing on RHAMM peptide mimetics in multiple myeloma.
Thanks to all your hard work London, Dr. Turley was able to receive the funding. Thank you for all your hard work fundraising and spinning! Because of your dedication to Blood Cancer Initiatives, we are one step closer to better care, better research, and better treatment.

Hey London,
It’s been quite awhile since our last post and we wanted to bring some positivity to your day. ❤️ We hope that everyone is staying healthy and safe during this uncertain time.
We can’t believe it’s been more than 2 years since our first BSS event and we are extremely sad that we have had to cancel the past 2 years. We know the next event will be better than ever and cannot wait for the day where we can all be together again!
Over the next little while we will be letting you know exactly where the funds you raised have been allocated. London, between the 2019 event and the cancelled 2020 event, you raised a whopping $54,969.49!!!! We cannot thank you enough!
These funds have assisted with the Gene Goodreau Patient Assistance Fund, Hematology cancer research projects at the LRCP, and will be used on the C7 Inpatient Oncology unit very shortly!
We could not have done it without all of YOU! Thank you!!
Stay safe. Stay healthy!

Four days ago we lost one of our biggest supporters. Some of you may recognize her face, her shining smile, and have been lucky enough to know her infectious personality. Jocelyn was an aspiring doctor and turned a dark time into a beautiful one. She learned as much as she could during her treatments at both LHSC and Princess Margaret in Toronto, and she shared her story on many platforms (including BSS) in hopes of increasing awareness about hematology cancer and stem cell research. Through her stem cell team, numerous lives were saved with transfusions, and over 2000 joined the stem cell registry in the first six months of Joc’s battle. To read more, please go to our link in bio.
Jocelyn, you will surely be missed. But we will continue to fight this battle for you and increase awareness and fundraising initiatives for hematology cancers. Rest easy our friend 💗

In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, we are sad to let you know that we have made the decision to cancel the 2020 Blood Sweat & Spin.
Given the progress of the pandemic and restrictions on gatherings still in place, we have determined to move the event to March 2021.
A huge thank you to all of you! You raised over $17,000 this year in support of blood cancer patients. We will still be awarding prizes for our top fundraisers. Please stay tuned for more information on how we will get these to you.
We look forward to seeing everyone in 2021! Stay safe. Stay healthy.

New date TBD!
Dear Blood Sweat and Spin Participants and Supporters,
Through collaboration with and the full support of London Health Sciences Foundation and The Factory, the Blood Sweat & Spin Committee has decided to postpone the upcoming event on March 28, 2020.
We are saddened to have to postpone the event, but in light of the recent progression of COVID-19, it is in the best interests of our attendees, sponsors, donors, volunteers and event organizers. We will continue to monitor the situation as it unfolds in Canada and will determine the best date to re-schedule the event in the near future. We are committed to raising funds in support of blood cancer initiatives and will continue to encourage participants to fundraise and support this incredible cause. We couldn’t put this event on without our amazing sponsors and would love for you to continue to be a part of this event when it is re-scheduled.
Kind regards,
The Blood Sweat and Spin Team
