This sweet dancing queen 👑 went straight from SDCCS to Antigonish for the ✨161st Antigonish Highland Games✨. Thank you to the organizers for hosting a great weekend of dance 💞.

We have had a very busy week at the ✨2026 ScotDance Canada Championship Series✨ held in Moncton, NB and hosted by ScotDance Canada 🍁. A huge thank you to SDC and all the volunteers who helped make the week such a fantastic success💖. Congratulations to all dancers who competed!✨

We also wanted to congratulate ⭐️Paige, ⭐️Briella, and ⭐️Julie who made the trek to Moncton for the series. Although there is still one more day of events left, all of our dancers completed their events yesterday and today. We are so proud of all three of you for getting up on the big stage and pushing yourself. Each of you danced beautifully in very large, talented groups of dancers. Keep working hard and we cannot wait to see where your dance journey takes each of you next 💚💙💚

Yesterday was the ✨Gathering of the Clans Competition✨ in Pugwash, NS. A big thank you to the Pictou County Highland Dance Association for organizing and hosting this competition 💖.

Congratulations to ⭐️Juliana who competed in her first ever competition! Although no placings, we are so proud of all the hard work she continues to put into her dancing and we’re so excited to see her up on stage. 💜

We also had the opportunity to recognize one of our dancers at our Spring Recital who has been nominated for the ✨BATD North American Sadie Simpson Scholarship Competition✨ based on her dance exam results for theory and dancing. Congratulations to ⭐️Julie, who will travel to Markham, ON, this fall to attend the scholarship and conference weekend.

We also want to congratulate ⭐️Julie on earning a spot on the ✨2026 Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo Highland Dance Team✨, with shows taking place July 1-5.

Congratulations Julie! We cannot wait to watch you take the stage both at the Tattoo and the Scholarship event 💚.

Last year we awarded the inaugural ✨Celtic Nova School of Dance Spirit Award✨, sponsored by Dave Nantau.

The Celtic Nova School of Dance Spirit Award is presented to a dancer who consistently demonstrates an eagerness to learn, participate, and strive to be their very best. Sponsored by Dave Nantau, this award recognizes that spirit, passion, and dedication are not always reflected in trophies or placings, but are often shown through a dancer’s actions, attitude, and contributions both on and off the stage.

This year’s recipient consistently arrives prepared, ready to work, and eager to embrace the learning process. They listen carefully, seek clarification when needed, and approach each class with focus, maturity, and enthusiasm.

Not only are they committed to improving their own dancing, but they also have a remarkable ability to encourage and uplift those around them. Through genuine friendships, kindness, and unwavering support, they help create a positive and welcoming environment for their peers.

This dancer approaches every challenge with a growth mindset, always striving to improve while remaining mindful of others. They are quick to notice when a new student may need support and naturally step forward to help newcomers feel comfortable, included, and valued.

Whether sharing their own experiences, helping a classmate learn a new skill, or encouraging others to step outside their comfort zones, this dancer leads by example. They embody the values we strive to foster at Celtic Nova School of Dance: dedication, kindness, leadership, inclusivity, and community.

We are proud to recognize them as an outstanding role model and valued member of our dance family.
