On October 4, 1999 at 4:45pm the first class ever given at the Blue Cat Boxing Club took place at a space rented by the hour at 5369 St-Laurent. Within a month we moved into another space in the same building managed by Pigeons International, also renting by the hour until the end of the year. We’d leave equipment, and re-hang the bags whenever we showed up to train.
Saturday workouts started at our St-Dominique location at the end of October 1999. Despite the confined space, no air flow, and uneven cement floors new people kept showing up. In January 2000 we permanently moved to the St-Dominique location. The toilet was in a neighbouring apartment, and those that dared needed to circumnavigate a sometimes vicious dog. Never look the dog in the eyes. Yet, even with a space too small to hold a ring, many boxers began competing with intensity, success and good times.
By mid-September 2003 we moved to our new location at Parc / VanHorne. We had luxury, with changerooms and a toilet free from danger. Although, the space was too small for a real ring, we made due with a string-ring, and continued our successful and adventurous exploits in the competitive ring. This remained our home for the next 5 years, while the trains kept rumbling by.
In January 2008 we expanded once again and moved to our current location on Beaubien. To begin we only rented 1/3 of the space, the rest possessed by a company selling vinyl records. They soon left, and we took over the rest of the floor in September 2008 and have remained ever since.
In early 2013, with the coach getting bogged down by school and the inevitability of children, it looked likely the club would close after 14 years. This suited nobody well, and within a short time 16 club members attained their coaching certification and began helping out with classes. With the contribution of many members, the club continued to flourish, and now we celebrate 20 years of blue cat boxing.

Le 4 octobre 1999 à 16h45, le premier cours donné au Club de boxe Chat bleu a eu lieu dans un espace loué à l'heure au 5369 St-Laurent. En l'espace d'un mois, nous avons emménagé dans un autre espace du même bâtiment géré par Pigeons International, louant également à l'heure jusqu'à la fin de l'année. Nous laisserions le matériel et accrocherions les sacs chaque fois pour nos entraînements.
Les entraînements du samedi ont commencé à notre site sur St-Dominique à la fin du mois d’octobre 1999. Malgré l’espace confiné, aucun flux d’air et les sols en ciment inégaux, de nouvelles personnes sont venus. En janvier 2000, nous avons déménagé tous les cours à notre site sur St-Dominique. Les toilettes se trouvaient dans un appartement à côté, et ceux qui osaient avaient besoin de contourner un chien parfois vicieux. Ne regardez jamais le chien dans les yeux. Pourtant, même avec un espace trop petit pour tenir un ring de boxe, de nombreux boxeurs ont commencé à faire de la compétition avec intensité, succès et drôles de moments.
À la mi-septembre 2003, nous avons déménagé dans nos nouveaux locaux à Parc / Van-Horne. Nous avions le luxe, avec des vestiaires et des toilettes sans danger. Bien que l'espace soit trop petit encore pour un vrai ring de boxe, nous avons dû jouer avec un ring fait des cordes et poursuivi nos exploits avec succès et aventure en compétition. Cela est resté notre maison pour les 5 prochaines années, tandis que les trains continuaient à passer.
En janvier 2008, nous nous sommes encore agrandis et déplacés vers notre site actuel sur Beaubien. Pour commencer, nous avons loué seulement 1/3 de l'espace, le reste appartenant à une compagnie qui vendait des disques vinyles. Ils sont rapidement partis et nous avons repris tout l’espace en septembre 2008 et nous y restons depuis.
Au début de 2013, l'entraîneur étant embourbé par l'école et l'inévitabilité des enfants, et il semblait probable que le club fermerait ses portes après 14 ans. Cela ne convenait à personne et, en peu de temps, 16 membres du club ont obtenu leur certification d’entraîneur et ont commencé à aider avec les cours. Grâce à la contribution de nombreux membres, le club a continué à prospérer et nous célébrons maintenant 20 ans de boxe des chats bleus.
