π¬β A Small Butt. A Big Problem. βπ¬
Let's talk about one of the most common forms of litter in our community: cigarette butts.
While they may seem small, cigarette filters contain plastic fibers and harmful chemicals that can take years to break down. When tossed on sidewalks, roads, parking lots, parks, and trails, they can wash into storm drains and eventually end up in our local waterways. π§π
In Ontario, litteringβincluding cigarette buttsβis prohibited under provincial law and may result in fines. More importantly, it impacts the appearance, cleanliness, and safety of the public spaces we all share.
π³ Here's how you can help:
β
Always dispose of cigarette butts in a proper receptacle
β
Carry a portable ashtray when you're on the go
β
Never toss butts out of vehicle windows π
β
Ensure cigarette butts are fully extinguished before disposal π₯
β
Encourage friends and family to do the same
Every cigarette butt tossed on the ground is one more piece of litter someone else has to clean up.
π Let's show pride in our community by respecting our parks, sidewalks, roads, trails, and gathering places. Small actions make a big difference.
β¨ If every smoker properly disposed of just one cigarette butt today, our community would be noticeably cleaner tomorrow.
π‘ Keep our Town beautiful. Dispose of cigarette butts responsibly.

π§ποΈ Construction Update: Active Living Centre ποΈπ§
Exciting progress is happening at the new Active Living Centre! π Starting this week, crews will begin pile driving as part of the foundation construction phase.
π¨ What is pile driving?
Pile driving involves driving steel piles deep into the ground to create a strong, stable foundation. During this work, you may hear a repetitive hammering sound, with noise levels varying throughout the day depending on where work is taking place and weather conditions.
π
When can you expect noise?
β° Monday to Friday
π 7:00 a.m. β 8:00 p.m.
π According to the current construction schedule, this phase is expected to last approximately six weeks. Crews will work as efficiently as possible to help minimize the duration of disruption.
π’ While the noise may be noticeable, this work is temporary and essential to ensure the new facility is built on a safe and stable foundation for years to come.
We appreciate the patience and understanding of residents, businesses, and the community as this important project continues to move forward.
π’ Stay tuned for more construction updates as progress continues! π§β¨Pile driving for the new Active Living Centre will begin this week as part of the foundation construction phase.
