2026 ONTARIO PROVINCIAL GAMES
June 27th (Sparring) & June 28th (Poomsae) in Oakville!

We can't say enough how proud we are of our team. We continue to make history! This was our second ever provincial championship and just like last year, we were one of the biggest teams. However, this time we managed to earn much better results! We had to overcome a lot just to step on the mats this weekend but our athletes/parents all buy in 100% and trust the coaches and our plan and that is how greatness can be achieved!

We sent 17 Poomase athletes & 5 Sparring Athletes.
ALL 5 Sparring athletes medaled and showed much better improvements from last time. For Poomsae, we earned 17 Medals with 8 of them being GOLD. While its not all about the medals, we continue to set the bar higher and higher each time and for a high performance program, results matter.

We want to take a moment to acknowledge all the new schools, athletes and coaches we saw this weekend for the first time at the provincials. This year's event had double the amount compared to last year, making this an even tougher provincial games! The future in Ontario is very bright and we only continue to grow stronger together!

Here are our team results from the weekend:
- Stanford Chen Cadet Male -53kg BRONZE Medalist
- Hannah Wong Cadet Female -55kg BRONZE Medalist
- Colette Chan Junior Female -55Kg Bronze Medalist
- Nia Sondagar Junior Female -42kg Silver Medalist
- Caylee Truong Junior Female -49kg Silver Medalist
----------------------------------------------------------
- Horace Cadet Male Individual SILVER & Cadet Pair GOLD
- Hannah Cadet Pair GOLD
- Emily & Karson Cadet Pair BRONZE
- Vanessa, Naomi & Keola Cadet Female Team GOLD
- Leanna, Colette & Hayley Junior Female Team SILVER
- Master Emily, Jaya, Meere U30 Female Team SILVER
- Brayden, Daniel & Peyton Cadet Male Team GOLD

Our philosophy of training both Poomsae & Kyorugi at a high level for ALL our students continues to pay off and the results speak for themselves. 22 PROVINCIAL MEDALS FOR THE HOME TEAM! Congratulations to our High Performance Athletes!

Blackbelt World Championships Day 2 (Sunday June 7th) Photos:
MTA sent 17 Recreational Blackbelts & 5 High performance sparring athletes. This was another long day of over 850+ competitors including over 250 High Performance Sparring Athletes from all over the country and even the US. This is probably the highest level competition that Ontario has to offer. Medals are far from guaranteed when there are over 20 competitors in 1 division but that is what makes it such a valuable experience for the athletes. Win or lose, there is a lot to be gained and learned from.

It was great to see some of the countries best athletes do battle and even get to compete with some of them. As always, our team showed out and won plenty of medals but beyond that we are proud of the courage and determination they showed on such a tough stage. Special shoutout to ALL our high performance sparring athletes for competing hard, keeping the matches close and showing improvements from last time out. Also congratulations to Colette, who won 3 hard fought matches against very tough competition and made it all the way to the finals. She lost against arguably one of the best Female Sparring Athletes in the country in the finals and earned the silver medal in a division of 10 girls. This was a standout performance!

Thank you to our Coaches, Master Emily, Loreena & Aidan. We are lucky to have such a great team! It was a very long 2 days but totally worth it. Our small club from Markham continues to grow and put a stamp on the Taekwondo Map!
