Merrickville Lions Campsite Manager Job Description - 2028 – May to October
The Campground Managers/hosts couple will be self-sufficient with a personal RV to stay on property with full hook-ups to oversee daily operations, facilities, and guest services to ensure a safe, enjoyable, and well-maintained camping experience.
Core Responsibilities
Operational Management: Campground Managers supervise the day-to-day operations of the campground, including maintaining facilities such as restrooms, campsites, kayak/canoe rentals, dump station and laundry facilities to ensure all areas are clean, safe, and fully functional while enforcing campground rules and policies to provide a seamless guest experience. Managers are responsible for coordination of reservations and bookings during the May to October season, as well as responding to reservations and bookings received November to April via phone and emails. Managers also ensure the application managing the reservations is well maintained to ensure the best experience for guests, as well as data reporting.
Guest Services: Campground Managers handle check-ins, check outs, address visitor inquiries, resolve complaints, and coordinate recreational activities or events. Ensure guests have a positive experience while maintaining safety and compliance with regulations.
Maintenance and Safety: Maintenance and inspection of the grounds, and equipment are conducted to identify maintenance needs. Managers maintain and implement safety protocols, emergency procedures, and sanitation standards to protect both guests and staff.
Financial and Administrative Duties: Managers oversee expenses, biweekly reporting, control inventory, and all financial transactions. Managers also promote the campground via Facebook.
Required Skills and Qualifications
• Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills
• Experience in hospitality, tourism, or outdoor recreation management is a plus but not required
• Ability to work outdoors utilizing grounds maintenance equipment: zero turn sit on lawn mower, push lawn mower, whipper snipper, hedge trimmer, chain saw etc.
• Comfortable to take on small carpentry projects; building picnic tables, firewood bins all while being cost effective
• Proficiency working on a PC to ease the learning curve of the reservation and management software, also, MSword and excel
• Knowledge of health and safety
• First aid/CPR certificate is a must
• Financial management, reporting and tracking of revenue to date
Work Environment: Managers’ report directly to the Lions Club. Managers are hired as contractors, not employees, thus are responsible for all government remittances and must provide proof of liability insurance.
Campground Managers typically work outdoors, including indoors completing administrative tasks of check-ins and reservations and managing the budget. The role is onsite 24/7 May to October, working hours are 8am – 8pm with flexibility to handle after hours concerns, emergencies, and park safety for campers. In summary, a Campground Manager is responsible for ensuring operational efficiency, guest satisfaction, facility maintenance, safety management of the campground, making it a multifaceted role that combines leadership, administrative, and hands-on outdoor responsibilities.
