Milton Lawn Bowling Club

On August 13 Milton held its inaugural Novice Club Tournament. This was sponsored by Lynda Miller.
All had fun and enjoyed food prepared by Silvia Linder and Lynda Miller. Congrats to Michael John’s and Helen Hobden as the big winners!

District 9 mixed pairs were played at Milton. 2 entries Pat Rawluk and Brian Roussie and Laura Seed and Mark McFadyen.
Mark and Laura won. Off to Woodstock!

The action packed week of bowls in Ontario (Sea to Sea, Boettger, Woba, KO pairs) was capped off with the Milton Skins game with prize money at $2,000. Sponsors were Done Right Roofing, Orange Snail Brewery, Derry Pharmacy and Laura and David. The big winners were Owen Kirby, Mike McNorton and Ben van Steijn.
Thank you so much to the Milton club for supporting this event. Thanks to Brad Hunt for keeping the beverages cold, to Cammy Cleveland and her Kitchen crew and to Mike Comba and his greens crew.
We are hoping to get more teams next year!!!

The raspberry social was another successful event at the Milton Club. This was sponsored by Delmanor who also donated gifts won by Angelika Koeth and Tac Ochiai.
The winners were Guenter Linder, Lisa Halfpenny, Diane Labelle.
And as usual many members hang out on the Milton Patio.

The Skins game in Milton is fast approaching on July 25. Great news is that it does not conflict with the district mixed pairs this year. Some teams did not play in the skins because of this. I hope now this means they will play! The skins is best played when there are 16 teams. We made that goal last year and it made the draw easy and fair. So let’s do it again. We have some new sponsors: Done Right Roofing, Orange Snail Brewers and Derry Pharmacy. To register go to the Milton Website to tournaments then open tournaments. On June 13 Milton had an in-club tournament the Sheffield Cup. 24 memebers signed up. The Sheffield is sponsored by Rapunzel Salon.

It is awesome to see so many players back to bowling. Last Monday we had 38 players come out to play and 11 of them were new members. We have not seen numbers like this since pre-Covid. Hope this means we will have a busy season!
Hoping this increase is a trend for all clubs.

Congratulations to the winners of the ladies tournament (one must be a novice) on May 27 in Milton sponsored by The Dance Class.
Linda Dickson, Sharon Costescu and Donna Riga. It was a great turnout (16 teams) thanks to Lynda Miller’s effort. She is now working on filling the next Ladies tournament on June 17.
