Happy everyone!

This week we have a recap from last week's CACC #4 race weekend at Mission Raceway road course from Courtenay Rimaldi. She was out racing in her Formula Ford.

July was quite the race weekend!

It has been a few tough years with the car, but we are getting there!
Don ran Saturday (well 2/3 of it), unexpected showers came in, and the wet track and rain was not worth the risk for practice. Quali went well, despite needing to run the wrt tires, as he was set to start 4th for the race.

Good, clean and dry race saw him finish 3rd with a 1:11.7.
The bar was set, and I would be looking to improve on my 1:13.9 from June race, but my PB was a 1:13.5 from 2025.

My 1st session out Sunday was qualifying. (It has been limited time in the car the past few years, maybe a total of 3 hours for 24/25 seasons. And then 45 mins from June race weekend.)

Qualifying did not go quite as planned, on my 3rd lap I yelled over the radio that I lost 3rd gear. Not literally lost, as I am the gear changer, it was in there, but I couldn't find it with the shifter. Came in early to discover a bushing was loose on the shift linkage from a lost bolt. New bolt installed, and I would be ready for the first of 2 races on Sunday.

Race 2 - started 9th and was prepared to fight my way through the field to gain a few positions. The race started clean and I got myself set into a rhythm of working on my lines and braking, as well as chasing down those in front. I only finished that race 7th, but I set a new PB of a 1:12.9! I was ecstatic and set to start 4th for race 3, as I had the 4th fastest lap in the race.

Race 3 - I was excited to start higher up, but still cautious of the Turn 1 cluster can has the potential to happen. I kept it clean, and was jumped by a few Legends and a Ford that were my hyper focus to pass. I reeled in the Legends and used my signature move of late braking into Turn 1 to pass the Legends and keep them behind. Then it was my time to catch up to Cam in the Ford ahead of me. He was a ways off, but I was determined to try braking a little later, increase corner speed and get on to the throttle more to light up that shift light, or bring on the rev limiter. The times were improving and Cam was coming into contention. As I was pulling my inside line in Turn 1 as he overshot the corner and locked up, I was ready to zoom away from him. But instead, I bogged ๐Ÿ˜ข. The throttle did nothing and the car was losing power. I had to pull over to the side and be taken away by the safety truck. (Thank you Safety!)

My 4th place turned into 9th as I ended up being 2 laps down. Thank you Cam for not cramming into the back of the car as I came to quite a slow down ahead of you.

Despite the less than desirable end, I had a blast with the chase! And I did a another new PB!

1:11.9!!! I am now in the same second as Don, just 0.2s off. Time to string more of those together in a race and keep improving.

Thank you to all my amazing team mates for support ๐Ÿฅฐ
As seen in later photo, I lost my balls at the end of Race 3 ๐Ÿ˜…. The floats on our carb both fell off their solder joints! Back to plastic, as I no longer trust the brass floats.
