Mississauga City Council and Staff felt New Canadians only like soccer and cricket which is a LIE! Ward 3 Councillor Fonseca did not fight for her community and needs to go. Sure, my supporters helped get this new rink but where is the roof and boards and change rooms and clock and netting?? Where are the lights as it is so dark! Brampton has 7 rinks, 1 roofed rink and building a second beside Lion Head Golf Course and they have MORE new Canadians!

City of Mississauga believed New Canadians do not like hockey (which is a LIE) so they destroyed a $6 MILLION outdoor rink! Hockey is expensive and why we need FREE Community Rinks especially for New Canadians!

Former Mayor Bonnie Crombie publicly lied 3 times about replacing Mississauga's one and only outdoor refrigerated hockey rink protected with a roof.

My name is (YOUR NAME GOES HERE) and I am a resident of Mississauga living in your ward at (YOUR POSTAL CODE/ADDRESS).

I am upset the City was first to destroy the first refrigerated roofed hockey/skating rink in the GTA without consulting me or other residents leaving one of the worst hockey rinks in the GTA at Woodhurst Heights for 750,000 of us.

We only had 3 weeks of usage at the 35 volunteer rinks because of global warming and ponds/rivers are dangerous recreational options.

The City spends millions of dollars annually on baseball diamonds, soccer fields, tennis courts and cricket pitches.

Yet, Southern Ontario is the hockey factory of the Earth and you are destroying the best rink we have leaving us a lousy one.

Why? Because you feel immigrants don’t play hockey? That is so untrue. We all just need a free space to be introduced to it and with global warming need a roofed rink to future proof our great Canadian tradition.

While the election is next year, I trust you will vote to build us a roofed rink with heated change rooms, zamboni, boards/benches, glass and netting.

We only have 1 rink for every 375,000 people (Celebration Square, Woodhurst Heights) and far behind Brampton (1:150K), Toronto (1:50K), and Oakville (1:195K).

It is important to me that this facility is built before next year’s election so we can enjoy skating/hockey OUTSIDE FOR FREE in Mississauga again from November to March.

Also, I want the programming to have skating, all ages stick and puck, and hockey available for free, all day, every day, like Celebration Square.
