The respected UK bushcraft educator recently visited us at COEC and shared a little about his second book, which is a practical, comprehensive guide to essential bushcrafting skills including woodcraft, fire, shelter, water and natural navigation.

Core Bushcraft is now available in-store and online at The Canadian Outdoor Equipment Co.

For World Mental Health Day, here’s a simple reminder: getting outside can be good for more than just fresh air.

The Canadian Psychological Association notes that even 1–10 minutes in nature can help reduce stress, improve your mood, and restore attention. Spending around two hours a week in nature has also been linked with better health and well-being.

On this, the solemn occasion of Truth and Reconciliation Day, we encourage all Canadians to spend time on the NCTR (National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation) website (https://nctr.ca/) learning about our history as a nation, and the impacts of colonialism and the Residential School System on Indigenous communities. Learning more about it is a small but important step of being part of the solution, and allows us as citizens and as individuals to be active participants in the living process of Truth and Reconciliation - strengthening our bonds as a community, and as a nation.

For our part, The Canadian Outdoor Equipment Co. will donate a portion of all online sales on Sept 30th to The Centre for Truth and Reconciliation.
