Canada has a Stockholm Junior Water Prize Winner!

We are thrilled to celebrate Moroti Adegboyega, who has been named the 2026 Stockholm Junior Water Prize Winner.

Moroti represented Canada on the world stage with Ecoferroquatics, his innovative project exploring how artificial intelligence, robotics and magnetic materials can work together to remove plastic pollution from water.

Over the past several weeks, WEAO has had the privilege of sharing Moroti's journey - from the thinking behind Ecoferroquatics and what it means to represent Canada, to presenting his work before the International Jury in Stockholm.

Today, that journey reached an extraordinary milestone!

Congratulations, Moroti, on this remarkable achievement and on demonstrating what the next generation of Canadian water innovation can accomplish.

What does it mean to represent Canada on the world stage?

For Moroti Adegboyega, Canada's 2026 Stockholm Junior Water Prize finalist, it is deeply personal.

After moving to Canada, Moroti rememers once telling his driving instructor "you guys have a beautiful country", his instructor corrected him: "We have a beautiful country."

That simple moment stayed with him and today, Moroti is proudly representing Canada internationally through his work in water science and innovation.

Now, with People's Choice Award voting closing August 20, Canada's water community has an opportunity to rally behind him.

As Moroti explains:

"Essentially, in simple terms, I can turn plastic magnetic."

His project is now representing Canada on the international stage, and there are only a few days left to support him in the People's Choice Award.
