Current Jiu Jitsu

This weekend marked the beginning of a new chapter. Our first major event with our juveniles. Incredible performance from both Nate and Nick, they truly belong at the highest level of international competition. Losing on incredibly narrow margins is tough, but it’s anyone’s match at this level. Excited to now prepare for worlds, nogi pans and nogi worlds with our juveniles this season. In no time, Currents incredible kids program will deliver some of the best teens in the world and we will be a force on the international stage. Galatians 6:9.

Fresh kits for our U9 coaches 🌊

I am a different coach for every kid that competes with me. I have a special relationship with each of them, and this helps build trust. The era of the sessional instructor is dead. If you show up with a technique, teach it and go home, you’re failing. Showing the best technique in the world is the bare minimum, you need to connect to your students to learn every weakness, insecurity and potential hurdles you need to clear 6 months before it happens. For all the parents who approached me yesterday asking what the secret was, there it is. Thank you all for your support and kind words at this event 🙏🏼

One of the most influential people to ever enter my life told me that I need to build my replacement so I can eventually move on to other projects for my team. I am well on my way to doing that. The juveniles have recreated the atmosphere I once created for them. I am very proud of them for their efforts in developing the U9 program and the future of our competition team 🌊

In 2025, we saw technical growth in our students like we have never seen before. Most importantly, we saw a group of kids come together and become best friends. God bless!

Special grading with a special team. Holding our belts to the highest standard is how we lift this community to new heights. Our kids know how high the expectations are when you wear our logo on your back and that comes with pressure the majority of kids in Jiu Jitsu will never feel. Avery, Amanda, Kacper and Nate have handled that pressure and represented our team well. Congratulations, see you tomorrow at 9am for practice.

I often make the mistake of blinking. The last 3 years have felt like 3 minutes for me. I am going to blink again and these kids will be winning titles in adult divisions all over the world. They will be leaders in our academy and coach the next generation of Current kids. I wish I could slow down time but I am excited to see the future 🌊
