π₯ "My kid doesn't want to hit anyone." We hear this from Mississauga parents every week β and it's exactly why Core BJJ & Grappling Academy exists.
Our Kids BJJ program (ages 5+) teaches children how to defend themselves through grip control, positioning, and escapes β not strikes. We teach takedown defense, hip escapes, and control positions with every student, one skill at a time, until it clicks.
Mississauga's only Barbosa Jiu-Jitsu (B9) certified academy, and we teach Judo right alongside BJJ. Families can choose Gi or in teh case of mroe experienced students No-Gi classes, and kids who want to compete get full support but nobody is pushed onto a competition mat if that's not their goal.

Big congratulations to our Core Jiu-Jitsu Youth Program! π₯
After a few months of focused, dedicated work on the mats, almost every one of our young grapplers moved up in rank this past week. That kind of progress isn't luck β it's what happens when you show up and put in the work, class after class.
With some of our members already away for the holidays, we did some reshuffling behind the scenes to make sure the team got their moment. Proud of how everyone pulled together.
Keep up the focused, dedicated training β we're with you every step of the way. π

Congratulations to all of our Junior Jiu-Jitsu students for their hard work over the past few months.
Belt promotions will be held next Thursday, June 25th, and weβre looking forward to seeing everyone there.
Parents, please grab an Intent to Promote form, fill it out, and return it to us so we can review everything before promotions. Iβve attached a copy here for your convenience, and printed copies will also be available at the front desk today.
P.S. Summer is going to be great. We have some upgrades coming to the program that Iβm sure everyone will enjoy. More news on that this weekend.
Thanks everyone, and congratulations again to all the students and thanks to the parents making this growth possible.

Please Vote in the Finals of the Mascot contest Below
So the mascot contest happened.
And honestly? You guys crushed it.
I figured we'd get a handful of submissions. Instead we got a flood of really good ones β and now we have to pick one.
As a team we narrowed it down to two finalists. Both are great. Both feel like us. And we got stuck.
So instead of deciding for everyone⦠we're letting YOU pick.
Because this is your academy. Your team. Your mascot. The thing ending up on our gis, shirts, and banners for years.
It's your call.

To everyone who submitted, thank you. Seriously. The fact that this many people cared enough to create something says everything about this team.
Now let's go pick a winner.

π Stuck on top but can't finish? You're not alone.
You've earned the mount⦠and then your opponent tucks their elbows, builds a frame, and suddenly your dominant position feels useless.
Gordon Ryan just broke down exactly why that happens β and more importantly, how to fix it. The secret isn't strength. It's a simple head shift that changes your entire leverage equation.
We broke down the full technique on the blog β including how it plays out differently in the Gi, No-Gi, and MMA. Because the mount is NOT the same position in all three, and if you're training it the same way across the board you're leaving a lot on the table. π₯

Whether you're a hobbyist or a competitor, this is one of those details that will immediately change what you're doing on the mat.

Friday the 13th at SkyZone with the crew π―
More than half the team was off doing Family Day weekend things (we get it), but the warriors who showed up?
We took over that trampoline park like it was a competition mat :)
Nice to get out of the academy and just let these kids be KIDS for a minute. They work hard. They deserve to fly.
Back to our regular schedule now, but here's the NEWS:
Starting in March, we're expanding our Mini Ninjas program with a new 4:30 PM Skills & Drills slot for ages 5+ π₯
