The Mr. L**e + Tires St. John’s Junior Hockey League is deeply saddened by the tragic passing of Stacey Lynn Kenny and her father, Corey Kenny.

Stacey Lynn was a bright light who left an unforgettable mark on our province's sports community, both on the ice with the Women’s Junior A Hockey League and on the floor as a respected member of the NLBHA NL Selects Ball Hockey Team. She had a rare gift for bringing joy, laughter, and an infectious smile to every locker room she entered, touching every soul she encountered.

The entire hockey community shares in this profound grief. Our thoughts, prayers, and deepest condolences are with her mom Laurie, her brother Carson, their extended family, and all of Stacey Lynn's teammates and friends.

Forever a teammate. Forever a friend. Rest in peace, Stacey Lynn and Corey. 🏒🖤

🏒 Attention SJJHL Teams, Players, and Fans! 🏒

The Mr. L**e + Tires St. John’s Junior Hockey League is holding its Annual General Meeting on Saturday, May 23rd at 1:00 PM at the Paradise Double Ice Complex.

We will be planning for the upcoming season and holding elections for several key board positions, including President, Treasurer, Registrar, Public Relations Officer, and Director at Large. We encourage all team representatives and interested community members to join us as we shape the future of our league. See you there!

The Southern Shore Junior Breakers organization is deeply disappointed by the amount of misinformation being circulated through both traditional and social media regarding the events of Game 3 of the first round playoff series against the St. John’s Junior Caps, hosted by the Caps at Goulds Arena on Saturday, March 7, 2026.

Our organization is also dismayed by the events that took place during Game 3 and recognizes the impact that these actions, and the portrayal of them through media coverage, are having on the game of hockey in our province, as well as on the families and fans who support and enjoy the game.

While we acknowledge that discipline will result from the series of events that occurred, our organization was very troubled by comments made publicly by a member of the league’s executive.

In particular, the statement made to the media that “Unfortunately, we had one team that figured they would be out of the playoffs and they didn’t want to play hockey” does not accurately reflect the effort or intentions of our players, coaches, or organization.

We expect fairness and professionalism from members of the league executive when speaking publicly about our team.

We would also note that commentary made by the head coach of the St. John’s Junior Caps towards Breakers players following Game 2 at Southern Shore included derogatory remarks that were witnessed by many in attendance. Our organization feels that these actions and comments were not addressed by the league, nor reflected in media coverage this week.

Additionally, we believe the level of suspensions issued to members of our organization to be disproportionate based on the level of penalties assessed during the game.

We remain committed to ensuring that a review process is conducted fairly and transparently.

At this time, the Southern Shore Junior Breakers are awaiting confirmation of a meeting with the executive board of the St. John’s Junior Hockey League. Our organization also intends to appeal several of the suspensions through Hockey Newfoundland and Labrador.

Until that process is complete, the Southern Shore Junior Breakers will have no further comment and wish good luck to all teams in the remainder of the playoffs.

The Caps defeated the Breakers 5-2 on Saturday night to sweep the series and advance to the next round!

After a few delays due to winter weather, Game 2 of Round 1 vs. the Caps is set for tomorrow night — Friday, March 6 at 7:45 PM on home ice at Ken Williams Southern Shore Arena.

Come out and support the Breakers as they look to even the series at 1–1!

In the second game of the evening, the Caps pulled out a 7-3 victory over the Breakers, taking a 1-0 series lead.
