Then make up stories to justify their crappy behavior. If you don't catch it early enough, they can do a lot of damage.

A common trait, is to accuse you of doing the very thing that they have done to you. Most of the time you're so taken aback you don't even know what to say. And each time you let it go, it essentially gives them the latitude to do it again and again and again, until they've worn you out.

At which point, when they have nothing more to gain and nothing to lose, that is when they leave. Leaving you bewildered, frustrated and, yes, angry. This, by the way, is whether you still have feelings for them or not.

And then they say "I don't know what your problem is."

So all I can say is, when someone shows you who they are, believe them the first time. Don't make a decision to overlook the red flags, because you think you're building something with a person like this. Because in the end that person is only working towards their own end. It is not a partnership, it is servitude. And once you stop serving, that's when you find out what they're really all about.
