How I got here? Originally, I wanted to be a PE teacher so that I could teach others how to move, how to play a lot of different sports, how to compete, how to play for fun, all while learning how to move their bodies in space. When I first arrived in the US for college, my first major was PE and health. That was interesting for me because I want to know more about how we can be “better”- feel better, perform better, get better. Within this field, I struggled with some English exams and decided to switch from education to exercise science. Here I found strength and conditioning and I realized that I was still teaching athletes how to move better, run better, be better physically and how that will help them in their sport. Strength and conditioning did not exist in my home country and I fell in love with it here (both in my classes and in my own training for tennis).
After my undergrad in PE and exercise science, I wanted to learn more about HOW to coach than WHAT to coach. I learned the “what” in my undergrad and I continued to expand my repertoire. In grad school, I wanted to learn how to coach. During my masters program, I tried both strength and conditioning and sport performance, and I fell in love even more with sport performance. It was great to gain knowledge and experiences in both fields and that helped me to decide which one was better for me.
