The Tuff Schist came away from game #3 with their first shutout of the season! With goalie Hillary absent, we were happy to have Tuff Schist alumna Megan M return for one game to step between the pipes. Although play was competitive, Megan only had to make maybe one save in the first half of the game--the second half saw her get several shots, but she stopped them all to keep us alive! (Despite there being one guy on the other team whose shots were hard enough that they sounded like they would crack the boards or glass, not a single one of them ever hit the net ;).)
About two-thirds of the way through the first period, Kristen took the puck from one end to the other (assisted by Louma coming out of our zone) for a beautiful goal to put us on the board. The second goal came in the second half, by offensive defence Anne Marie (assisted by Kristy).
There were lots of other great passes throughout the game, and we kept up the pace the whole time to finish with the 2-0 win. Overall, the Slingers gave us a really good, competitive game, some of the best hockey we've had in a while. Looking forward to the next game on October 26th!

After a LONG break (three and a half weeks! wtf, schedulers?) we finally got back on the ice for game #2 against the Flo Tracys, and came out with a decisive 8-3 win. Scoring was led by Caitlyn, with 5 goals (holy crap, girl!!). Goalie Hillary had a fantastic game too, with several great saves. First penalty of the season went to Christine for hooking the other team's best player (although it seems he liked it because he held her stick there) ;).
Next game is on October 20! We'll be missing Hillary, so it'll be a tough one...
The Tuff Schist played their first game of the season way back on September 18, and unfortunately opened with a 5-0 loss against the #1 team Blades of Wood. Not really much to say about this one...that team is still undefeated after 5 games now and even our top players couldn't get far against them :(.
Hi all, and welcome to the 2015-2016 season!
The Women's league has unfortunately disappeared, so the Tuff Schist will be staying in the Men's D league from now on. This means that each year we'll get to have a game against the Stoners, which means EPS PARTY!!
Most of our team has returned this year, and we also welcome new players Becky, Naomi and Sarah W, all from EPS.
The Fall schedule is:
Friday, September 18 @7:00pm vs Blades of Wood
Tuesday, October 13 @8:30pm vs Flo Tracys
Tuesday, October 20 @8:30pm vs Slingers
Monday, October 26 @9:30pm vs Hackers
Tuesday, November 3 @8:30pm vs "Girls"
The Tuff Schist finished off their season with one non-playoff post-season game (the norm for Men's D). Having finished fourth in the standings, we were paired with the second-place team, the Ice Holes. Unfortunately we were missing many players and the Ice Holes were far above our level (and indeed were far above every other team they played this semester), and the game finished in a 13-0 loss.
So it was a tough way to end the season, but we're already looking forward to the next! Whether we will be in a Women's league or back in Men's D will depend on how many women's teams there are, so we'll have to wait and see. See you next season!

The epic match over three decades in the making!
A historical first occurred on Friday, February 20 as the Tuff Schist faced off against the Stoners in an official intramural game! Unfortunately both teams were missing several players (and we were missing several fans due to the W***y Trip), but it was still a great game and good fun. Kristen led our scoring with a hat trick while Aliza R scored one goal, but in the end the Stoners won 6-4.
If we end up back in the Men's league next year, we'll be looking forward to a rematch!
Make sure you have a look at all the photos posted in the Tuff Schist vs Stoners album, and tag whoever you please! :)
I got behind in this again! The Tuff Schist played the Flo Tracys back on February 6 and continued their awesome streak with a 5-3 win. The opposition had a couple of quite strong players, but we prevailed with scoring led by two goals by Aliza R and two by defence Kelly!
Another win for the Tuff Schist! This time it was a 2-0 shutout against Cold Fusion, with sweet goals by Kristen and Aliza R. The score doesn't exactly reflect the game, though...our goalie Hillary only had to make 2 or 3 saves while their goalie was the only thing keeping it from being 10-0.
Looking forward to keeping the winning streak alive on Friday, February 6 @7:00pm vs the Flo Tracys!
The Tuff Schist just played their first game against a men's team...and it's a 4-1 win! Aliza R led our scoring with a hat trick, and goalie Hillary was going for the shutout but the Absolute Zeros managed to score one at literally the last minute.
Next game: Wednesday, January 28 @8:30pm vs Cold Fusion!
