đŸ€ CONSENT-BASED CONTACT PRACTICE — with À Corps Consentants

Before we share weight, we share consent. What becomes possible when touch is something you choose — fully, and on your own terms?

We’re so glad to welcome À Corps Consentants — Caro & Cachou — to the floor at ARCS 2026. Their workshop is a somatic, feminist-Queer, trauma-sensitive practice for exploring touch and consent — and that evening, a chosen-mixity jam to carry it into the dance.

Caro & Cachou have facilitated consent and conscious intimacy since 2019, here in Tiohtià:ke / Montréal.

This is just one of 24 workshops over twelve days, with 20+ devoted teachers from Montréal, across Canada, and beyond. Come study with us.

🗓 Tuesday, June 9
Practice 2:00 – 5:00 PM
Chosen-Mixity Jam 7:00 – 9:00 PM

đŸ€ THE POWER OF THREE — with Avery Fitzgerald

You know the duet — the weight, the listening, the rhythm of moving with one other body. But what happens when the duet becomes a trio?

There is a difference between hearing and listening.

Lalaina Ravelojaona opens the Monday evening of the ARCS 2026 Contact Improvisation Pre-Summer Festival with the Echo-Location Focus Jam — a deep-listening practice where no sound is passive.

Hearing just happens to us; listening is active — decoding a sound to understand where it comes from, what it is, and what follows.

In this room, every sound is co-written by the one who sends it and the one who receives it. Come tune your whole body toward the dance and the soundscape we make together. All levels welcome.

Tous niveaux bienvenus. đŸ€

Benoüt Lachambre opens The ARCS 2026 Contact Improvisation Pre-Summer festival ✹

One of the most influential voices in contemporary dance and improvisation, sharing Parallel and Integrated Manifestations of Polymorphies.

This is a rare chance to study with an artist who has spent decades researching the listening, shapeshifting body — how form arises, dissolves, and reorganizes through sensation. To open twelve days of deep practice on his floor is an honour for our whole community.

We open the ARCS 2026 Contact Improvisation Pre-Summer festival by coming home to the body.

Before twelve days of falling, lifting, listening — we arrive.

On opening morning I’m sharing Awakening the C.I. Body: a slow, curious landing into presence, drawing from Body-Mind Centering, Tuning Scores, Material for the Spine, and the Small Dance.

We release what we’ve been carrying, reawaken peripheral perception, and find the aliveness that makes Contact Improvisation possible. Think of it as a toolkit you can return to all festival long — to prepare, to reset, to restore.

All bodies. All levels. All abilities. Come ready to move, laugh, sweat, and restore.

♄ AD VIVUM — Opening Night of ARCS 2026 ✹

For twelve days this June, ARCS — Linking Our C.I. Practices, Communities & Research — gathers dancers from across TiohtiĂ :ke/MontrĂ©al, across Canada, and from abroad for a Contact Improvisation festival three years in the making. Workshops. Masterclasses. Jams. Performances. A panel. A whole ecosystem of shared body, shared time, shared research.

And it all begins with AD VIVUM — a single, irreplaceable opening night.

An evening of bringing alive.

AD VIVUM gathers six artistic propositions in one room — performances, films, music, voice, and shared body. Each piece is an invitation: to listen, to risk, to be moved.

Together they trace a current — from the intimacy of a single heartbeat, to the wild streets of Mile End, to the layered scores of a collective in research.

Spontaneous compositions. Real time. Real bodies. Real now.

This isn’t just a show. It’s how we open the festival together — artists, dancers, neighbours, strangers — stepping through the same portal at the same moment, into the twelve days that follow.

What if mornings at ARCS 2026 CI Festival, your daily ritual began with a shake?

Meet Mel Sirois — opening every morning of ARCS with SHAKE.

Shaking is ancient medicine for the spirit — and one of the most efficient and pleasurable ways of improving our overall health. Practiced widely in Brazil, Africa, Japan and beyond, it’s a sacred practice that regulates all of our bodies — physical, mental, emotional, energetic, and spiritual. It helps us ground, release, realign, energize, and return to full presence.

Mel is a MontrĂ©al-based somatic practitioner, facilitator, and movement artist devoted to truth, embodiment, and full self-expression. Trained in Core Energetics, Movement Analysis, and Quantum Human Design, she guides experiences that bring people back into their bodies, their instincts, and their authentic beingness. In 2017, she founded Inner Fire Mouvement — a space for self-expression, courage, and the joy of being fully alive through movement.
