Not every pathway leads to the classroom. Some lead directly back to professional hockey.

Today, we are proud to highlight Yannic Bauer from Regensburg, Germany.

Yannic spent two seasons with Somang Hockey Academy and quickly became one of the most popular players our program has ever had. Known for his positive attitude, strong work ethic, and leadership, Yannic was respected by teammates, coaches, billet families, and staff alike.

After his time in Canada, Yannic returned to Germany and has continued his hockey journey at the professional level, where he now plays in the DEL2, one of Germany’s top professional leagues.

We are incredibly proud of everything Yannic has accomplished and grateful that he remains part of the Somang family. His story is another example that there is more than one pathway to success. For some players, the dream leads to university. For others, it leads directly to professional hockey.

Congratulations, Yannic. We will be cheering for you every step of the way.

Nicht jeder Weg führt ins Klassenzimmer. Manche Wege führen direkt zurück in den Profisport.

Heute freuen wir uns, Yannic Bauer aus Regensburg vorzustellen.

Yannic verbrachte zwei Spielzeiten bei der Somang Hockey Academy und wurde schnell zu einem der beliebtesten Spieler, die unser Programm je hatte. Mit seiner positiven Einstellung, seinem starken Arbeitsethos und seinem vorbildlichen Charakter genoss er großen Respekt bei Mitspielern, Trainern, Gastfamilien und Mitarbeitern.

Nach seiner Zeit in Kanada kehrte Yannic nach Deutschland zurück und setzte seine Karriere im Profihockey fort. Heute spielt er in der DEL2, einer der besten professionellen Eishockeyligen Deutschlands.

Wir sind unglaublich stolz auf alles, was Yannic erreicht hat, und freuen uns, dass er weiterhin Teil der Somang-Familie ist. Seine Geschichte zeigt, dass es mehr als einen Weg zum Erfolg gibt. Für manche Spieler führt der Weg zur Universität. Für andere führt er direkt in den Profisport.

Herzlichen Glückwunsch, Yannic. Wir werden deinen Weg weiterhin mit Stolz verfolgen.

Welcome to Somang Hockey, Thomas Condo!

Somang Hockey Academy est heureuse d’accueillir de nouveau Coach Stéphane Python au sein de la famille Somang. Cette saison, il assumera le rôle d’entraîneur-chef de notre équipe 18U AAA.

Coach Python cumule plus de 30 ans d’expérience de haut niveau derrière le banc, notamment en Suisse, en Italie et au Canada. Son parcours parle de lui-même, et nous sommes ravis de pouvoir compter à nouveau sur cette vaste expertise au sein de notre organisation.

Nous avons demandé à Coach Python ce qui l’enthousiasmait le plus à l’approche de la saison, et sa réponse ne laisse aucun doute:

Je suis très fier et enthousiaste à l’idée d’amorcer la saison 18U AAA avec l’académie.
“Mon objectif demeure le même : développer des joueurs complets, exigeants envers eux-mêmes et prêts à franchir la prochaine étape de leur développement. La saison commence maintenant.”

Coach Python brings over 30 years of elite-level coaching experience spanning Switzerland, Italy, and Canada. His track record speaks for itself, and we are thrilled to have that depth of knowledge back behind our bench.

We asked Coach Python what he's looking forward to, and he didn't hold back:
"I am very proud and excited to kick off the 18U AAA season with the academy. My goal remains the same — to develop well-rounded, demanding players who are ready to take the next step in their development. The season starts now."

Welcome to Somang Hockey, Quentin Vengeon!

Somang Hockey Academy est très fière d’annoncer l’embauche de Jordon Southorn à titre de nouvel entraîneur-chef de l’équipe Prep.

Ancien choix de repêchage des Sabres de Buffalo de la LNH, Coach Southorn a connu une carrière professionnelle de 20 ans où il s’est illustré dans plusieurs des meilleurs ligues au monde comme la LHJMQ, la AHL, la KHL, la DEL ainsi que la Ligue Magnus.

Né à Montréal, au Québec, Coach Southorn apporte à notre programme un niveau exceptionnel d’expérience sur la glace, de leadership et de connaissances hockey. Encore plus important, il a vécu de première main les différents chemins possibles pour les joueurs qui veulent évoluer au hockey junior, universitaire, professionnel et sur la scène internationale.

« On est vraiment excités d’accueillir Jordon dans la famille Somang », a déclaré Michael Bujold, président de Somang Hockey Academy. « Son parcours est impressionnant, mais ce qui nous enthousiasme le plus, c’est l’expérience et la vision qu’il va apporter à nos joueurs. Jordon a joué au plus haut niveau en Amérique du Nord et en Europe, et il comprend exactement ce que ça prend pour réussir sur la glace comme en dehors. Il sera un mentor exceptionnel pour nos étudiants-athlètes. »

Avec le début de ce nouveau chapitre, nous tenons aussi à remercier et à souhaiter la meilleure des chances à notre ancien entraîneur. Un sincère merci à Stefan Fournier pour son dévouement et son professionnalisme au cours des deux dernières saisons. Il a énormément contribué à notre programme, et nous lui souhaitons tout le succès possible dans ses prochains défis au niveau collégiale.

Somang Hockey Academy is proud to announce the hiring of Jordon Southorn as its new Prep Team Head Coach. Coach Southorn is a former Buffalo Sabres NHL draft pick who excelled in some of the best leagues in the world such as the QMJHL, AHL, KHL, DEL and Ligue Magnus over his illustrious 20-year professional career.

Born in Montréal, Quebec, Coach Southorn brings an exceptional level of playing experience, leadership, and hockey knowledge to our program. Just as importantly, he has gained firsthand experience navigating the many pathways available to players pursuing opportunities in junior hockey, collegiate hockey, professional hockey, and international competition.

“We are thrilled to welcome Jordon to the Somang family,” said Michael Bujold, President of Somang Hockey Academy. “His hockey résumé is outstanding, but what excites us most is the experience and perspective he will bring to our players. Jordon has played at the highest levels in North America and Europe and understands what it takes to succeed both on and off the ice. He will be an incredible mentor for our student-athletes.”

As a new chapter begins, we say farewell and all the best to our previous coach. A sincere thank you to Coach Stefan Fournier for his dedication and professionalism over the past two seasons. He added a huge amount to our program, and we wish him nothing but success in his next challenge at the Collegiate Level!

Somang Hockey Academy est heureux d’offrir son Camp international de développement d’été 2026.

Depuis plus de 15 ans, Somang Hockey Academy accueille des joueurs du Québec, du Canada et du monde entier et est aujourd’hui l’une des plus importantes académies internationales de hockey dans l’Est du Canada. Pour la saison 2026-2027, notre organisation comptera des joueurs représentant 22 pays différents.

Notre camp offre une occasion unique aux jeunes joueurs de se développer dans un environnement positif et stimulant tout en côtoyant des joueurs locaux, régionaux et internationaux.

Le camp sera encadré par des membres du personnel de Somang Hockey Academy et mettra l’accent sur le développement des habiletés individuelles, du patinage, du hockey IQ et de l’éthique de travail.

Le programme comprend :

🏒 3 heures de glace par jour
📈 Développement des habiletés, du patinage et du hockey IQ
🎥 Séances hors glace et analyse vidéo
📝 Évaluations hebdomadaires
🥅 Encadrement par le personnel de Somang Hockey Academy

Somang Hockey Academy is proud to offer its 2026 International Summer Development Camp.

For more than 15 years, Somang Hockey Academy has welcomed players from Quebec, across Canada, and around the world. Today, we are one of the largest international hockey academies in Eastern Canada. For the 2026-27 season, our organization will feature players representing 22 different countries.

Our camp offers a unique opportunity for young players to develop in a positive and challenging environment while interacting with local, regional, and international players.

The camp will be led by members of the Somang Hockey Academy staff and will focus on skill development, skating, hockey IQ, and work ethic.

The program includes:

🏒 3 hours of ice daily
📈 Skills, skating, and hockey IQ development
🎥 Off-ice and video sessions
📝 Weekly evaluations
🥅 Instruction from Somang Hockey Academy staff

✅ Register by the week or for all 4 weeks

For families coming from outside the region, we also offer a complete residential option including:

🏠 Supervised accommodation in our community residence
