Café DAX is proud and honored to thank our incredible athlete, Patrick Michel, for his unyielding determination and perseverance in running over 3,200 KM during our "One Run for One Life event" held on the Café DAX terrace between June 1 - July 31.

Through injury and unrelenting heat, Patrick was unstoppable and helped us raise almost $10,000 to support our honoree, Derek Johnston. Derek is battling cancer for which he is being treated with an experimental medication program. This inspiring event could not have been a success without the public and the countless customers - friends of Café DAX, who donated generously. With your support, we have accomplished and will continue to accomplish our mission of helping Derek extend his life with treatment and care.

Again, thank you for your gracious support and celebration of this meaningful event. Our friends from BTC films have been producing a documentary, so stay tuned!

DAY 60—THE RUN MAY BE OVER BUT NOT THE BATTLE!
Today may be the 60th and the last official day of running for Patrick, but it’s definitely not Derek’s last day for battling cancer. Derek still needs your donations to help prolong his life and to offer him a better quality of living. Your donations help prolong Derek’s life by buying him time to complete the experimental treatment that is keeping him alive.

Since the treadmill is still out of order and couldn’t be fixed before the run is over, Patrick Michel is running his last marathons on Outremont roads today and tomorrow instead of running on the treadmill at Café DAX. (He decided to add a day 61 to his challenge!) If ever you catch him running on the road, give him two thumbs up for completing his amazing run of over 3 000 km to raise awareness on Derek Johnston battle for life!

PATRICK IS BACK ON TRACK!
1000's of kilometers ran and the treadmill, unfortunately, "broke". Not to worry, no roadblocks will affect Patrick's unrelenting dedication to raising money for Derek and finish is running journey so for the past few days, Patrick hit the road until the treadmill was fixed this morning. A lot of you already know Patrick Michel has been running up to 84 km almost every day on a treadmill on Café DAX’s terrace for more than a month to raise money and awareness to the critical condition of Derek Johnston affected with Stage 4 non-clear cell kidney cancer. When Patrick goes back home after an 84 km run to rest, Derek doesn’t have the same luxury. He fights relentlessly, day in day out, to stay alive. Now that’s courage! That’s endurance!

More than 3 marathons completed by Patrick Michel in 2 days on the Café DAX terrace despite the overwhelming hot weather and persisting injuries. It was to be expected that running between 40 km and 84 km a day would bring some setbacks, but none of them seem to discourage Patrick from running to help extend Derek Johnston's life! Plus de 3 marathons de complétés en 2 jours pour Patrick Michel sur la terrase du Café DAX malgré le soleil accablant et des blessures qui perdurent. Il était à prévoir que courir entre 40 km et 84km par jour allait apporter son lot d'embuches, mais aucunes d'elles ne semblent décourager Patrick à courir pour aider à prolonger la vie de Derek Johnston ! Day 34 - THE CHALLENGE CONTINUES UNDER A HOT DAY!
Another day under the sun and Patrick was in shape more than ever! Mother Nature did not make it easy for him with a 33C temperature. In the crushing heat, Patrick did not let himself be discouraged and ran 42 km (1 marathon). This is a huge accomplishment considering the weather conditions. Come back tomorrow morning at 8h o'clock sharp to encourage Patrick at Café DAX!

Jour 34 – LE DÉFI SE POURSUIT SOUS UNE JOURNÉE CHAUDE ET HUMIDE !
Une autre journée sous le soleil et Patrick était en forme plus que jamais ! Mère nature ne lui a toutefois pas rendu la tâche facile avec un mercure à 33C. Sous l’écrasante chaleur, Patrick ne s’est toutefois pas laissé décourager et a couru 42 km (1 marathon). Ceci relève de l’exploit considérant les conditions météo. Revenez encourager Patrick demain matin dès 8h sur la terrasse du Café DAX

LES TUMEURS RÉGRESSENT TOUJOURS !
Plus d’un an passé depuis le début des traitements en immunothérapie et Derek enregistre toujours une diminution de ses tumeurs.
