Borderline Ultimate

Edmundston (and all of New Brunswick Ultimate) lost one of its heroines this week 😔

An inspiration to so many female players in the region, it didn't matter if the tournament was big or small, or even if you were half her age or playing in the same division - Judith was going to be there and she was going to give it all she had.

It's not often you come across a player who can simultaneously turn up their intensity, smile from ear-to-ear and somehow remain humble while laying out past you on the field 🥰

Her spirit of the game, legendary playing style, dedication to Ultimate Frisbee Edmundston and overall love for the sport left a very high watermark very few ever reach.

Although she may be gone, Jude will not be forgotten.

C’est avec une immense tristesse que nous vous informons du décès de Judith Laforest, pionnière de l’association Ultimate frisbee Edmundston et athlète immensément respectée et admirée.

Judith a participé à plus de 150 tournois en carrière. Parmi ceux-ci se retrouve le populaire tournoi de plage de Paganello en Italie. Au cours des saisons 2014 et 2015, elle participe aux Championnats canadiens de Ultimate à Waterloo où elle se mérite une médaille de bronze dans la catégorie femme maître. Elle est par la suite sélectionnée pour participer au tournoi mondial sur plage à Dubaï en mars 2015 et finalement, en novembre 2015, elle prend part aux Championnats pan-américains au Mexique. Ce même automne, elle est nominée pour le prix de l’Athlète féminine de l’année Comfort Inn, organisé par Sports Nouveau-Brunswick.

Ma tante Jude aura sans aucun doute été un modèle pour tous les athlètes en ultimate de notre région. Elle était passionnée, inspirante et détenait un esprit sportif exemplaire. Son départ créera un grand vide dans notre petite communauté et même au-delà…

En mon nom personnel et au nom de l’association Ultimate Frisbee Edmundston, je désire offrir mes plus sincères sympathies à toute sa famille, mais également à Manu, Caro, Guillaume, Alexandre, Michèle et Denis pour qui elle était bien plus qu’une grande amie.

History was made this weekend when 14 bodies at the starting line became 14 bodies at the finish line. Not sure how it happened, but it was a great time!

Top to bottom, the 2018 Canadian Ultimate Championships Open Masters Division will go down as one of the strongest pools of competition the club has seen!

Fortunately we were able to field one of the strongest rosters to meet it head on!

Silver always hurts, but having good friends come together to put in 110% feels much better!

Now on to the Pan-Am Games to represent Canada.

The Collective and Borderline Ultimate both move on to the Canadian Ultimate Championships semifinals tomorrow while Salty Ultimate is in the quarters and both Red Circus Ultimate and Regiment Ultimate battle towards the Ninals!
