After a devastating flood that destroyed my studio, bathroom, living room, office, and bedroom, I may finally be able to breathe easily again. It has been a tough 3 months, sometimes going to Home Depot 3 times in one day & relying solely on contractors. From a world of nail guns, chain saws, and gyprock, I look forward to a world of incense, coin belts, and dancing with my fabulous students again. See y'all next week!

As classes have been put on hold due to the flood, I've decided to post some technique tips until the studio is ready. Let's start with Shoulder Shimmies:

1. Sit or stand with your chest slightly lifted.

2. Place fingertips on shoulders. This is the spot you want to shift or push forward; not up and down, but forward & back to its original position (not pushing it to the back).

3. Place arms out in a "V" & WITHOUT twisting the elbows, alternate the right and left shoulder forward and back (to its original position). The arms MUST be completely still as only shoulder muscles are used.

4. Now make this smaller and faster until it transforms into the Shoulder Shimmy!

Fun tip: Try walking by taking 4 steps forward & 4 steps backward or walk around in an 8 count circle while shimmying the shoulders.
