**๐ป๐ฌ๐จ๐ด ๐จ๐ต๐ต๐ถ๐ผ๐ต๐ช๐ฌ๐ด๐ฌ๐ต๐ป**
Itโs with a mix of sadness, gratitude, and pride that we share this announcement as we reflect on the past three years.
Three years ago, four young curlers from Moose Jaw came together to compete on the U18 CurlSask Junior Tour. Since then, this group has grownโnot only as athletes, but as teammates and as individuals. Last season, Riley aged out of U18 and stepped away from competitive curling, and now, as the team moves up to the U20 level, these boys have truly grown into young men.
Together, weโve experienced the highs of victory and the lessons that come with tough losses. One of our proudest moments was representing Saskatchewan at Nationals in 2025, where we finished 7th after entering as the 21st seed. The memories and experiences from these past seasons will stay with us for a lifetime, and the friendships built will continue well beyond the game.
Last week, Blake Montgomery shared with the team that heโs ready for a new opportunity and has decided to join another U20 team for the upcoming season. We are incredibly thankful for our time together, and while weโll miss having him on our team, we respect his decision and wish him nothing but success. We look forward to competing against him on the ice next season.
With this transition, Coach Rod has also made the decision to step away from coaching. Rod has been an incredible leader and mentor, and we hold him in the highest regard. His experience in competitive curlingโincluding two Brier appearances representing Saskatchewan and competing on the Grand Slam circuit winning the GSOC Openโbrought invaluable knowledge of game strategy and preparation to our team.
The time and dedication Rod has given us have been truly extraordinary, especially while serving full-time as the Fire Chief for the City of Moose Jaw. Weโre not sure how he managed to give us so much of his time, but we are deeply grateful. And Lisaโthank you for sharing him with us (and for your patience along the way!).
We invite you to take a look back at some of our memories with Blake over the past three years, and stay tuned for updates on Team Heisler for the 2026 season. Weโre excited for whatโs aheadโand weโll see Blake on the ice ๐ฅ

Team Heisler wrapped up our season a few weeks ago with a Quarterfinal finish at the Marc Kennedy Junior Classic in Edmonton. Taking the loss to the eventual winner in Team Harris. It was another amazing event put on by Marc and Nicole and their committee of volunteers. We really can't thank them enough for all their hard work putting together this bonspiel that provides top notch competition and fun each year! Truly the best junior bonspiel there is. And to think they added on the extra work of putting on a clinic as well...who needs a break after the Olympics!
We would like to again thank all of our amazing sponsors for making this season possible. Without your support we would not have the opportunities we have had to travel to these events and play the sport we love. ๐ฅ
This year we had our share of ups and downs. Unfortunately, we did not achieve our goal of returning to U18 Nationals and that stung for a while we aren't going to lie. We know we will each come out hungrier and ready to work hard next season.
This end of season wrap up is bitter sweet as Dayne, Blake and Laine all age out of U18 this year. This is a hard age with lots of "life" decisions being made. This season was different with Laine being at U of S and unable to practice with the team on a regular basis. Jacob drove thousands of kilometers to play and practice with us in Moose Jaw each week.
Now here we areโฆ. Blake is graduating Grade 12 in June and Dayne is graduating from Saskatchewan Polytechnic in May. Both will be making the move to Saskatoon in the fall.
The team has made the difficult decision to make a line up change on the front end. Jacob was a great addition to our team and is truly one of the most dedicated and hard-working teammates you could ask for. Jacob is still U18 eligible and we wish him all the best in his future curling pursuits! We know we will see you around the rink! ๐ฅ
Stay tuned for 2026 Team announcements...
