FUNDAMENTALS IN FOCUS (2/6)

Introducing… FUN1!

This is the first step in your Royals Fundamentals journey. Although the FUN divisions are based on skill and not age, this was previously the U6 division and often follows that age group.

Royals FUN1 is primarily a Learn to Skate program and is all about developing a sense of confidence and fun on the ice. Our goal is to create a welcoming space for kids to learn something new and fall in love with sport!

New series alert 🚨🚨🚨

Over the next few weeks we’ll be spotlighting our fundamentals programs with the Fundamentals in Focus series! Follow along to learn more about the FUN programs and pick up all the reasons you should give it a try.

The first thing you need to know about the Fundamentals programs at the Royals is that the FUN division isn’t just about learning to play ringette, it’s about creating a welcoming place for kids to try something new, develop at their own pace and enjoy being part of a team. This community extends beyond the rink to all of our Royals parents and families as well.

New teammates, new skills, new friendships 💙💛

MUSKOKA ROYALS FUNDAMENTALS🪁

This is the foundation of our association and we are so excited to offer 3 fundamental groups with FUN1, FUN2 and FUN3 this season.

Although these are skill based divisions and not strictly organized by age, these programs are typically U6 (FUN1), U8 (FUN2) and U10(FUN3) ages.

Looking for a sport for your child for this year? Interesting in them learning how to skate and trying an ice sport? Consider the Muskoka Royals Fundamentals programs!

LET’S TALK FUN(damentals)

One of the questions we get the most often is “What is the difference between FUN1, 2 and 3?” So it’s time to set the record straight.

Ringette Ontario now uses a SKILL BASED sort out system as opposed to age based at the younger levels. At the Royals, our goal is to place every child in a group where they have fun, grow in the sport, and learn to love ringette, no matter which group they are in. For anyone wondering, FUN1 has previously been U6, FUN2 was previously U8, and FUN3 was previously U10.

FUN1 and 2 at the Royals practice together, so we’ve lumped them together on our graphics above. The goal in these levels is to focus on foundation, and developing the basics. Learn to skate & learn to play. Emphasis on developing confidence, making friends and loving ringette.

FUN3 is most well suited to kids with some skating and/or ringette experience. This is where players really take flight and are introduced to game play at a regional level (including home/away games and tournaments).

But these levels do have a few key things in common. Both practice on Wednesdays (1hr ice times) and prioritize creating a fun, positive and welcoming experience for our young players.
