As fall season is upon us here in the Boreal forest region all is quiet on the forest fire front. Just a reminder that fires are not permitted between 2 hrs after sunrise until 2 hrs before sunset. Unless used as the cooking source or for bodily warmth. I have questioned authorities on where in writing I could find this regulation but still have no answer.
Fishing in general has really caught 'fire' the past two weeks with pink in color the go to bait choice. I'll be jigging my custom color of pink and purple by Lure Magic and pink / white / blue which some camp fishermen recommend tipped with minnow. Pink bladed harnesses with a crawler are also turning the heads of finicky 'Eyes', ask me... I don't know why. Laker's have been somewhat active with a few released in the past three weeks. I hope this is an indication that the fishery is recovering by the releases over the past five years or so.
Pike action never slows for eaters but the big boys are not playing nicely yet. Soon there should be some nice size fish showing as the water temps fall. Medusa and other most ugly forbidden baits will be top choice's. Mike and Mike recommend casting near islands with the last of lively w**d growth for the toothy critters. Also try near break lines that hold young of year walleye and perch.
