Yoga in general can be helpful for creating ease in everyday physical tasks, building strength and mobility, and increasing body and mind awareness. The main benefit of private yoga sessions is getting more personalized and interactive instruction. This means having the ability to focus on issues that you want to address, or getting more support to figure out what might be helpful for you specifically. You are able to ask questions and get modifications as needed at any time. You and your instructor can work on building up a repertoire of ideas that you can use to create an independent practice as you gain more confidence.

Working with Madeleine, you can expect to have an ongoing conversation about what your goals are, or what physical issues you may be dealing with. Her approach is to blend traditional yoga poses with functional movement (for example squats, or working towards them), and general strength and mobility exercises. You can also expect a little mindfulness to be incorporated, mostly just focusing on breath and body awareness. She aims to be curious and creative when working with clients to find out what works well for each of them. She draws on a background of yoga, soccer, physiotherapy exercises, dance, weight lifting and other sports to inform her own movement practice. She is always open to trying new things. She has personally worked through injuries, pregnancy and autoimmune issues, and while she is not a medical expert in these domains, she has gained insights from these experiences and has compassion for those dealing with various physical challenges. Yoga and movement have been a big part of her health journey, and she looks forward to helping others experience those benefits.
