What the f**k is going on here?! I'm gutted that we actually need to say this, but white supremacists, white nationalists, neo n***s, etc. are not welcome at ITT. Nor is anyone that supports people with that ideology.
I thought we settled this issue as a society about 80 years ago. Just another thing the internet has ruined, I guess. 🤷‍♂️

Sarah is the first woman at ITT to win gold at an ADCC Open, and I have now won 3 consecutive ADCC Opens...
When it's time to celebrate big wins, is the only place around here for a foodie to get truly spoiled with gourmet deliciousness and exquisitely personalized service.
I travel a lot and have eaten at some unreal restaurants all over the world, so knowing that you can get a truly top notch meal with just a drive down to Cedar is something I'm pretty damn grateful for. If you've never been, you're missing out!

The Bierstacky Diet. For anyone wondering how I achieved such good results this year, I thought it only fair that I reveal my stack... of gelato.
When I walk in to this is my order:
"I'll take the pints of London Fog please".
They ask "how many?".
"All of them" is my reply.
In the lead up to the open in Vancouver, I was eating a pint every day.
My opponents take TRT, peptides, Tren, etc.
I make sure I never run out of the best gelato flavor.
We are not the same.

Gratitude time. Even though it was "just" a semi final, this match felt extra significant for a few reasons:

First off, it was my first match back competing since suffering an adductor strain at Master Worlds, an injury I feared at the time would prevent me from doing this event, which is the most important event of the competition calendar to me. Thanks to the rehab program designed for me, I went into ADCC Vancouver fully recovered and totally confident my crotch would be a source of pleasure, not pain. As it should be...

Secondly, this was the first match where I truly felt the difference from my strength program created by that I have been following since the start of the year. My maximal strength, strength endurance, conditioning, and overall physicality finally felt like a match for an obviously powerful opponent. My grips felt almost unbreakable, keeping me on offense for practically every second of the match.
I tend to be more of a counter fighter, relying on technique to set traps against physically superior opponents. My few losses tend to come against stingy Brazilians who engage very tentatively and rely at least partially on the kindness of referees. In this match, I was able to impose my technical acumen with alacrity due to the added horsepower.

And finally, I want to thank for all the training sessions throughout the year where we focused exclusively on my top game and passing. With about a minute left in this match, though I was dominating, due to my opponent's defensive diligence, I ended up in top half guard with no points on the board. In the past this would have meant OT. However, due to the work I had put in all year, I passed the guard within 30 seconds of establishing top position and maintained the pin easily, going to knee ride repeatedly.

The most memorable matches for me aren't generally the quick, flashy submission wins. They are the matches where a bunch of hard work and preparation enables me to overcome significant obstacles.
Thanks Dr Mike, Peter & Rory for the huge help in allowing my work to show!

Had an absolute blast teaching a seminar on NoGi DLR concepts yesterday! Great room, great questions, and I managed to roll with everyone that stuck around after, which will be up on the YouTubes later.
Really grateful to Mike .burnaby for hosting, and to all the awesome folks that came out to support! Fantastic to see so many clubs represented, and I'm thrilled that women made up nearly half the room! Hope to see more of that in the future!

Another outstanding performance from the event came from Andell. Since I've started coaching him, we have spoken a lot about competing as a black belt and translating in the gym skill into competition day ex*****on.
This tournament was his first big event featuring experienced black belt opposition, and he performed in outstanding fashion, collecting gold with 2 wins.
Many black belts allow the fear of failure, among other reasons, to prevent them from competing. Putting your rep on the line as a gym owner or head instructor is a whole other level of commitment on top of that. Nerves and doubts are magnified. Being daunted by this prospect is enough to keep most away.
Seeing Andell get out there and get after it to overcome such things was really inspiring, and I'm thrilled to see the results come so quickly from all his hard work!

After this weekend I'm taking a break from competing and teaching seminars for a few months. If you're in Vancouver come check this out, would love to train with y'all.
The topic is nogi DLR, but even if you're more of a gi player, I promise you'll get more insight into the position from the material.
