Did you know that marine flares have an expiry date of 4 yes from date of manufacture. If you have flares dated Aug 2017 or earlier, they are out of date and do not meet safety regulations.
The Nanaimo Power & Sail Squadron and Cabela's are holding a Free Flare Disposal Day on Sat. Sept 18 from 10am to 4 pm at Cabela's in Nanaimo. Come and dispose of your personal flares for free. Please no group bulk flares.

We are all getting comfortable wearing masks to protect us from Covid, but don't forget to wear one while dealing with the hazardous materials when working on your boat.

A great Christmas gift for your Boating friends or family
Boating 2 and 3 Combined
Wednesdays starting January 13, 2021 for 12 weeks
In the second of our Boating Series, Boating 2, you are introduced to the art of navigation, anchoring, ropes, lines and knots – not to mention what to expect when the boat is moving under power. This course also has a number of optional topics that will be taught depending on local interests; these include tides and currents and a check list for layup and launch. Boating 3, the third course in our series, explores navigation further as you learn how to plot and label on paper charts. As well, you will learn what the skipper should do before setting out and when under way; handling a boat under sail; your environmental responsibilities; and some electrical hazards. These two courses are combined in this session and will give each student essential information for when operating a vessel at sea.
