I spent years living in survival mode. I just figured that was life!

As a nurse, I ran on adrenaline for years. My body learned to stay switched on sympathetic nervous system in full command. Then came my cancer diagnosis, and survival mode stopped being my work identity. It became my entire existence. Then I was slammed into menopause because of Chemotherapy, and I felt like an anxious, crazy person.

My nervous system had been in red alert for so long that peace felt unfamiliar. Almost suspicious.

It took coaching, therapy, and a lot of patience with myself to slowly teach my nervous system: you are safe. You can rest.

I see you, my friends in your 40s, 50s and beyond. You've been in survival mode too because of maybe careers, kids, caregiving, decades of chronic stress. Now, in perimenopause or menopause, your hormones are shifting and your nervous system is overwhelmed.

The anxiety, the 3am panic, the feeling you can't fully exhale-it's not weakness. It's wiring. Falling estrogen disrupts the very receptors that regulate calm, keeping you stuck in high alert.

The good news? Nervous systems can be retrained. Gently. With the right support. That's exactly the work I do because I've lived it from both sides of the table.
