Victoria Day Holiday Rides 2026

The Newmarket Eagles Cycling Club had an amazing time on Saturday, with 79km, 109km and 170km (!!!), and the weather was on our side!

Safety tip of the week

When a group slows down, avoid slamming on the brakes. Instead, feather the brakes with light pressure and sit upright to use your body as a parachute effect for gradual deceleration. Ensure you practice these deceleration techniques solo before applying them within a pack.

For safer positioning, ride with your front wheel slightly offset to the left or right of the rider ahead. This creates a functional buffer zone, allowing for wheel overlapping only as a last-resort emergency maneuver to avoid a collision.
