⛸️❤️ Happy National Coaches Week! ❤️⛸️

This week, we’re celebrating the incredible coaches who give so much of themselves to our skaters, our programs, and our skating community.

A very special shoutout to Coach Tracey, Coach Stef, Coach Carly, Coach Sarah, Coach Hannah, Coach Olivia & Coach Daniella! 👏🏻⛸️

From those very first wobbly strides on the ice, to learning new skills, building confidence, finding their passion, and eventually stepping into their competitive years, our coaches are there for it all. They teach far more than skating. They teach perseverance, confidence, discipline, resilience, courage, and the importance of believing in yourself. ❤️

They celebrate the tiny victories, encourage skaters through the frustrating moments, push them when they need that extra little bit of confidence, and cheer the loudest when they finally land the skill they’ve worked so hard for.

Behind every skater is a coach who has invested countless hours, patience, energy and heart into helping them become the best version of themselves ,both on and off the ice.

We are SO lucky to have this incredible coaching team helping shape our skaters from their very first strides all the way through their skating journeys. ⛸️✨

Whether your child is stepping onto the ice for the very first time or continuing their skating journey, we have a program for them! 💙

🟢 CanSkate | Learn to Skate
Our nationally recognized Skate Canada learn-to-skate program teaches fundamental skating skills in a fun, encouraging group environment with certified professional coaches.

⛸️ CANSkate REQUIREMENTS
✔️ Minimum 3 years old by the start of the session
✔️ CSA-approved hockey helmet
✔️ Proper hockey or figure skates that lace up

⭐ PreStar
An introductory figure skating program for skaters transitioning from CanSkate into figure skating who have successfully completed CanSkate Stage 3.

✨ STAR 1–4 / STAR 5+
For skaters progressing through the Skate Canada STARSkate program while working with a private coach.

⛸️ Program Information

🟢 CanSkate (Learn to Skate)
CanSkate is Skate Canada’s flagship learn-to-skate program taught in a fun, group lesson format. It is designed to develop fundamental skating skills through nationally recognized stages, with certified professional coaches in a positive and encouraging environment.

Requirements:
✔️ Skaters must be at least 3 years of age by the start of the session.
✔️ CSA-approved hockey helmet (mandatory)
✔️ Gloves or mittens
✔️ Proper hockey or figure skates that lace up

❌ Plastic molded skates, adjustable skates, or any skates with buckles are NOT permitted.
📢 There are absolutely ZERO exceptions to all of the above equipment requirements.

⭐ PreStar
PreStar is our introductory figure skating program for skaters transitioning from CanSkate into figure skating.

Requirements:
✔️ Must have successfully completed Stage 3 CanSkate
(You would have been notified on your most recent CanSkate report card or by email.)
✔️ CSA-approved hockey helmet
✔️ Figure skates
✔️ Gloves

⭐ STAR 1–4/STAR 5+
For skaters progressing through the stages of the Skate Canada STARSkate program while working with a private coach.

📌 Volunteer Bond
All PreStar and STARSkate families are required to submit a $250 volunteer bond. More information regarding volunteer requirements and the bond process will be shared after registration.

📌 Please Note
• Registration is FIRST COME, FIRST SERVE. Once a program reaches capacity, a waitlist will be started.
• We can’t hold spots, reserve registrations, or make exceptions once programs are full.

We’ve had a few questions about the difference between our Sunday, Wednesday, and Thursday CanSkate programs—particularly the pricing—so we wanted to clear things up! ⛸️

All of our CanSkate sessions follow the same Skate Canada curriculum and are taught by our professional Skate Canada coaches. No matter which day you choose, your skater will receive the same high-quality program.

The only difference is the number of sessions offered:
✨ Sunday CanSkate includes 19 sessions
✨ Wednesday & Thursday CanSkate each include 27 sessions

The cost per session is the same across all programs. Our Sunday program has fewer sessions simply because we lose more weekends throughout the season due to hockey tournaments and arena scheduling.

We’ll be sending out an email with the full season schedule in the coming weeks, and we also post monthly skating calendars right here on our social media pages to help you stay up to date.
