Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is by far the best martial art for women to learn.
I started my martial art journey in kickboxing. I always tell the story where I was walking down the street and some guys were maybe a little too close to our personal space and I told my friend don't worry about it I could totally take them.
After 9 years in martial arts I know know the likelihood that I could "take them" is completely unrealistic.
The truth of the situation for most women is that the fight is going to go to the ground, and if we can defend ourselves from the ground and potentially even break a limb or knock our assailing unconscious it's going to serve us far better.
I'm not trying to say any martial art is perfect or better than the other, but in my opinion Brazilian jiu-jitsu should be the choice for women.

Someone once told me, hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard.
Here are the 6 things that don't need talents or a special gift.
1. Hard Work - facing things you havent done, people who have talent, and building in that muscle memory
2. Showing Up - it takes a community to build a community, if you want to train you need training partners, and that means showing up to be a training partner too.
3. Attitude - I always tell myself, if something is hard, it's because I havent done it enough.
4. Focus - listening to your coaches and your training partner. Getting in reps instead of chats.
5. Consistency - coming to class regularly, and making it a part of your routine.
6. Commitment - to yourself and your training, to your training partners, and to your team.
Our fighter Flex class is in full swing! This course focuses on building flexibility and every so often includes the use of swords.in our flows! This was our first class where we added sword use, which means we will only improve with time!
If you havent been out to Judo in a while, come on out tonight! 7:30pm
Your teammates and sensei miss you!

Children learn far more from what we do than what we say.
We tell our kids to be active, try new things, work hard, and never give up when things get difficult. But the most powerful lessons happen when they see us doing those things ourselves.
When a parent steps onto the mats, they show their child:
It's okay to be a beginner.
Learning never stops.
Challenges help us grow.
Consistency matters more than perfection.
Healthy habits are important.
One of the greatest gifts a parent can give a child is the example of training. When children see Mom or Dad trying something new, struggling, improving, and sticking with it, they learn that growth includes these things - even for adults.
Martial arts gives families a unique opportunity to learn side by side, celebrate each other's successes, and support one another through challenges.
Your child doesn't need a perfect role model.
They need a real one.
Lead by example. Train together. Grow together.

There is a difference between entertainment where your family sits in front of a screen together, and an activity where your family is active together.
Having a family activity like martial arts allows you grow connection, share a common interest, and set goals.
Come try a one week trial, no strings attached! See what your family has been missing on the mats!
