Real food is expensive but worth it, if you can afford it. Affording healthy food should not be a question for people.

✨ A NEW CHAPTER. A DREAM REALIZED. ✨

Today is a very special day for me. 🤍

After two years of studying, practicing, learning, and pushing myself beyond what I thought was possible, I have officially completed all of my Pilates certifications. 🎓✨

✨ Mat Pilates
✨ Reformer
✨ Anatomy of Movement
✨ Wunda Chair
✨ Cadillac — all three parts
✨ Jump Board

At 53, starting over and becoming a Pilates instructor was not easy. Along the way, life tested me in ways I never expected. Recovering from a stroke and facing my own health challenges could have made me stop.

But I didn’t.

I studied harder. I showed up. I kept learning. I kept moving forward.

And I learned that sometimes the hardest chapters of our lives lead us to the most beautiful new beginnings.

I am incredibly grateful to my amazing teacher, Mary German, for her knowledge, patience, guidance, and belief in me. Thank you for helping me become not only a better instructor, but a better student of the body and of life. 🤍

Today, I see life differently.

I am stronger. I am more grateful. And I understand more than ever that our bodies are capable of so much when we give them patience, movement, and love.

This isn’t just a collection of certifications.

It represents resilience.
It represents starting again.
It represents believing in yourself.
It represents never giving up.

And now… there is another dream on the horizon. ✨

🤎 My very own Pilates studio is coming soon. 🤎

Avant-Garde Pilates has been a dream in my heart, and I am so excited to finally bring it to life and create a beautiful space where movement, strength, wellness, and connection come together.

This is only the beginning. 🫶🏻

Thank you, Mary, and thank you Living Well Pilates, for being such an important part of my journey.

With gratitude in my heart and so much excitement for what comes next. ✨

Apparently I have been ✨CURED✨ according to Social Security!!! 😭♿️

After almost 8 years, I received a letter saying my disability has “ended.”

Spoiler alert…I am, in fact, still paralyzed😂😂 I still use a wheelchair. I still can’t walk. I still need accessible parking, accommodations, adaptive equipment…ya know, all those fun little disabled person things.

What they ACTUALLY mean is that I no longer qualify for SSDI benefits because I’ve been working and earning above Social Security’s monthly income limit.

For anyone who doesn’t know, SSDI has work incentives that allow you to test your ability to work while still receiving benefits. One of those is a 9-month Trial Work Period. After that, there are additional rules around how much you can earn and continue receiving SSDI benefits.

So no, my spinal cord did not spontaneously regenerate🤣😂 My disability didn’t “end.” I wish it were that easy🫠

I built a career that eventually allowed me to earn too much to continue receiving my monthly SSDI benefit…and THAT is something I’m incredibly freaking proud of. 🥹

I’m obviously being very sarcastic in this video because the wording of the letter absolutely SENT ME. Like congratulations everyone!!! I have been healed!!! 😂🙌🏼

But underneath the joke, this is actually a pretty huge milestone for me😍

From wondering what my life, independence, and career would look like after becoming paralyzed…to building multiple businesses, working for myself, and reaching a point where I no longer qualify for SSDI because of my income! THAT part feels pretty damn good🫶🏼♿️

And just a reminder y’all, your disability status and your ability to earn an income are two completely different things!!
