Thank you Nick Grattani for writing this tribute.

Veteran Oakville Longhorn Murray Smith has lost his courageous battle with esophageal cancer. Quietly passing while holding his wife's Dawn hand on Tuesday July 23rd. Murray played from 1981 - 1984 as a Longhorn linebacker. Murray's loyalty and unselfishness helped the Longhorns be a contender in every one of his games.
Recently Murray said that 'he missed the locker room environment with the guys even after all these years but it is now God's will to go it alone and fight my new challenge."
Remarkably durable Murray was able to start and never miss a game due to injury. Having a humble attitude he saw himself as being a regular teammate with so many good players and coaches around him. Friends of Oakville Longhorns will miss him and be so grateful for having known him.

Funeral service will be held Tuesday July 30th from 10-1 @ St. John's Dixie Cemetery and Crematorium. 747 Dundas St East, Mississauga.
