Been a minute since we've only had color belts on the mats.
Fantastic Saturday with the best people.
Feeling pretty lucky to call this our team.

It is with the heaviest of hearts that we share the passing of our longtime student—and even more importantly, our friend—Sean Todd, a brown belt at Okotoks Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Sean passed away suddenly last week, and he will be deeply and profoundly missed.
Sean was more than a teammate; he was part of the fabric of our academy and our community. If you knew Sean, you were lucky. If you were truly in his circle, you knew just how invaluable he was—loyal, kind, and always there when it mattered most.
Our hearts are especially with his son, Jayce, who trains with us. Please know that he will have the full strength of this team behind him—we will be there for him whenever things feel heavy.
Sean meant so much to all of us, and this loss will be felt for a long time.
Rest in peace, Sean. You will never be forgotten.

I'd say 🌸 flower sweep... I really like the Ezekiel.

What would you tell someone about bjj who doesn't do it?

Don't do it. ( 😂 insert actual laughter from the boys) Well maybe like uh give it a shot. It's worth it, you can become a blue belt like me.

When we opened there wasn't even a category for "Best Martial Arts Studio"
I actually wrote the western wheel multiple times asking for more inclusive categories.

A few years ago, it happened, there was a category for us and I was so proud. We won gold the first year, I shared the link, I voted myself, I just wanted that recognition.
The second year we won silver, incredible accomplishment as I only shared on our private fb group.
This year we won bronze. I'm so proud of this as not once did we share a link, ask for votes. This award came organically and through the people who truly believe in us and support what we are doing over here at Okotoks Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

Like I tell our students, it's not about the win. It's the work you put in on the journey. The win is icing on the cake.

Thank you Okotoks, it's been an incredible 13 years being one of your favorite martial arts studios.
